We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Mains and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Any good decision I’ve ever made involved taking a risk. Starting my own company involved many risks and it still does. I only had one client when I leaped to start my own business. You must take risks in order to be creative, I think. A creative mind thinks out-of-the-box and oftentimes those “boxes” require risk taking. To me, risk taking also means living an adventure. The adventure of pushing my limits, going against the status quo and allowing my dreams to become a reality is priceless. I guess you could say there is a price to pay for taking risks, but the end result is priceless.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I’ve got three buckets that I am pursuing right now: Corner Cafe Entertainment, Media Communications Consultation and Influencers TV.

Corner Cafe Entertainment: What makes Corner Cafe Entertainment unique is that we are a faith-based show that highlights every generation, every genre of music and every Christian denomination. We invite musical artists and entertainers on the show to talk about their faith and artistry. We love to encourage and uplift these artists as well as inspire our listeners.

Media Communications Consultation: I help my clients build and manage all their online media channels. From online channels such as websites, courses, social media and email marketing platforms — I brand, build, train and implement your communications system to flow naturally, be consistent and be super effective so you can rest at ease!

Influencers TV: Influencers TV is a new brand that I am building. It will have online courses. I am currently in production for the first course, “How to Start Your Own Unique Radio Show That Will Stand the Test of Time.”

I am proud of all three of these brands. What sets me apart is that I am willing to take risks and try new things out. I am constantly looking for areas in which I can improve upon. I try to remain moveable and flexible to shift processes as well. This works well with my clients because they feel confident that I will always do my absolute best to get their desired result. If something is not working, I am able to pivot, try new things out and come up with better ideas.

It has not been easy being an entrepreneur. I’ve overcome the challenge of being my own boss by always remembering why I’m doing it. If I am in it to help others and change the world for the better, then it is well-worth it! It takes a lot of hard work and risks, but to be able to make a positive difference keeps me motivated to keep going.

The lessons, or perhaps more of a tip, is to always do your best and keep a positive attitude. People appreciate authenticity and honesty. You don’t need to always be right. If you are in it to serve others, you’ll be successful no matter what you do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting me, I’d take them to my favorite tea shop. We’d probably also go visit my cousin’s boutique nearby. There is also a cute little wine bar in that same area. I think in every town around the world there are places to discover. I’ve got a radio show called Corner Cafe… I’d love to travel around the world discovering the best neighborhood coffee shops. Certainly, in every coffee shop there would be interesting people to meet, with their own unique story. I’d love to hear their stories.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Many people have helped me along my way, but these two ladies were instrumental in showing me that life is about risk taking. I met these two sisters at my first job out of college. I worked at LeSEA Broadcasting and they had their own TV show as movie critics. I knew there was something different about them. Their zest for life, and their strong faith, lit up a room. Charlynne and Shaunya Boddie had a mentoring group and I was thrilled to be a part of it. I learned that all is possible for those who believe and that God has a specific purpose for them… If only, I would dare to dream.
