We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Abraxas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
For me, and I think a lot of sensitive creative types, I chose a creative career because the calling was so strong and I could not ignore it. I tried other paths of employment and business but it left me feeling blah and a sense of heaviness within. The closer I got to my career as a sound therapist, vocal energy healer, and vibrational wellness mentor the lighter and happier I became. So I followed the lightness. Being a solo entrepreneur can have its challenges for sure and not every day is creative and light, BUT the overall fulfillment, happiness, and inner peace it gives me is worth it. I believe our level of inner peace directly affects the collective as a whole. So this alignment serves my micro and macro cosms.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I usually tell people my voice has always had my back. As a vocal energy healer, I do sound therapy with the frequencies of my voice. But it started as just singing in my bedroom because I was too shy to even speak up in my elementary school classrooms let alone sing in front of them. My voice helped me through intense childhood experiences, dysfunctional teen times, and the lost 20-something years. The singing helped me move trauma energy in my 20s and that turned into writing my own songs. Singing my songs was very healing for me for many reasons. At the same time, I was exploring my spiritual life as well and I combined the songwriting with my spiritual and personal growth experiences. Throughout the years I became aware of how connected the voice is to my spiritual journey. It was through vocal technique, vocal awareness, vocal empowerment, and vocal intuition that my voice found its way to sounding without words. The power of voice is more than a creative tool it is a potent healing tool! My business now offers sound baths, custom sound healing, and mentoring to teach others to use their voice in this amazing healing way. A lot of the practices are simple, but that doesn’t mean they lack effectiveness, and simple also doesn’t mean it is easy. Awakening, healing, and remembering our souls’ calling is a journey worth taking but it is filled with dark nights of the soul, ego deaths, and release, all of which I found my voice supporting me through. The only way to the other side is through. Your voice is your power, your life is your creation.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Lafayette Colorado there is so much beauty to share with others. I think first I would give them an experience of my small beautiful artsy town. We would get on our bikes and ride downtown for breakfast at Tangerine then go have dessert and tea at East Simpson Coffee Shop. They have the best outdoor seating under some amazing trees. A picnic, drumming, and singing at Waneka Lake Park would be next in the afternoon. There are so many great spots to sit under the trees, watch the water and the birds, and be inspired. And there is a great view of the snow-capped mountains to the west. The next day we would take a few yoga classes at Soul Tree Yoga Studio in Lafayette, then spend the afternoon wandering around Pearl Street going into some of my favorite stores, Into the Wind, The Boulder Book Store, and Nomad Bead Store, followed by an amazing vegan dinner at Leaf. The next day we would head up to Chautauqua Park and do one of my favorite long hikes, Green Mountain. Afterward, we would settle into a special dinner at the Chautauqua House, they have the best soup there! Then it would be time for a little road trip up I70 to either Breckinridge or Vail for a few days. The hiking and scenery up there are breathtaking. Taking the long way home, I would take them to Princeton Hot Springs and stay overnight in Salida. Salida is a quaint town with some great local music and food. WOW, That would be an amazing week.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many breadcrumbs that have led me to each pivotal moment in my career path. Since I have been a seeker my whole life it has been many paths and I am grateful to all the teachers and people who guided me to those paths; But I would not have taken those paths if it was not for my mother, Linda Beacher, who always taught me to do what makes me happy, She also at 19 gave me the book “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louis Hay. This book was pivotal in my quest for happiness and human potential. I also have to give a shout-out to my husband of 21 years, Matt Abraxas, who through the past 2 decades of parenting together always supported me financially, and emotionally to keep following my heart, and kept encouraging me to continue to get the training I felt called to.
