We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Connet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think about risk in the vein of the reward to follow. I love challenges. With each obstacle you have to forge through, it develops your character. I do not believe in coincidences only the path we are lead down. There is a purpose for each of us. Risk helps us find our potential and our weakness. We learn from failure, it is not to be feared but embraced. Without the risks, I could not grow as an individual. This helps in all aspects of life, business and personal.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our business is Root The Rockies. My husband and I are hemp farmers. We also produce our own product line under the guidance of a pharmacist. We started our business in 2019. My husband, Darin, is the hemp farmer, I’m the business side. What sets us apart from the other CBD companies is due diligence in the products. We grow hemp organically in the state of Colorado. We do not create gimmicks to make a quick buck. We believe in quality products to give to the public. We are most excited about a skin care line we are working on. The effects CBD has on the face is phenomenal. We hope to release the line this year. Root The Rockies has been a slow grow company. It has been difficult to navigate in this space due to regulations. We are learning as we go. We overcome each challenge day by day. We weigh the pros and cons of any new product being introduced to the market. Our decision is based on what is best for the industry as a whole. There have been many lessons learned, the biggest is Mother Nature is the boss. We grow our hemp outdoors. We believe the sun is the best for the hemp. Root The Rockies is family owned, we are not beholden to shareholders to direct our company. Due to this decision, we were able to recently drop our prices due to inflation. We believe everyone should have access to quality CBD products.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Colorado is a lively state. There is so much to do. Depending on what you enjoy and the season, I would refer them to Copper to snowboard. You can hike in many beautiful state parks. Red Rocks is the best place to watch a concert, that is a must. We are dirt bike riders. We ride on the land we farm. I would invite them to camp on our property. There is so much to do!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to my husband and family. They are the force behind me. They make me want to be a better human. They lend an ear and insight to every move I make. My husband is very creative. He can do almost anything. He is an inspiration.
