Meet Dolly Rickerman | Beekeeper & Small Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dolly Rickerman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dolly, how do you think about risk?
No risk=no reward. Everything has some risk involved, but nothing is ever accomplished without some risk and a lot of effort. Doing your homework and your research, weighing the pros and cons, and doing everything in your control to balance the risk is a dance–but if you know the steps, you’re going to be a success. Just do it.
What should our readers know about your business?
We started Rocky Mountain Bee Supply in 2016 to make the hobby of beekeeping more accessible to everyday people…honeybees and other pollinators are in crisis right now, and what better way to help them out than to educate and promote the hobby of beekeeping? We pride ourself on customer service and helping our fellow beekeepers problem solve and become successful at maintaining bee colonies in the state of Colorado, which is no easy feat. Education and awareness of pollinators in crisis, and teaching the best beekeeping practices for the State of Colorado is what we love. We’ve learned that there is still so much we don’t know about honeybees and the challenges they face, but we continue to keep learning and growing in our pursuit of raising and maintaining healthy honeybees that are an integral part of our food chain.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Colorado Springs is a fun place to visit…there’s so much to do and see…where to start? Places you have to go see: Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
Places you have to go eat at: for the best steaks, go to The Famous, for seafood: Bonnie & Read, Breakfast: Garden of the Gods Market Cafe or La Baguette
Places to go shopping: Manitou Springs & Old Colorado City
Places to hang out and drink: 503 W. and Shame & Regret
Things you have to go do: take the COG railroad up to the top of Pike’s Peak
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Leonard, is my husband of 33 years, and my business partner…he helped me found Rocky Mountain Bee Supply and helps me to manage and run our storefront.
