We had the good fortune of connecting with Red Vonix and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Red, what matters most to you?
The one principle that I’ve always held above everything else throughout my career is for people to experience something I’ve worked on, and leave feeling satisfied. My goal is for them to visit a theme park attraction I’ve been a part of, and have wonderful memorable experiences of it. To play a story driven comedy game I’ve built and start laughing whenever they think about it, or have tearful memories of the sad moments in those tales. My purpose is truly to entertain and make others happy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Getting anywhere in a career is difficult. Getting anywhere in the video games industry is more difficult by at least a hundred fold, as it is not an industry that pays well, nor is it an industry with an accepting public. But for over twenty years, I have persevered to get to a place where I can produce the kind of content I want to, and I’m finally there. It took a tremendous amount of personal and financial sacrifice, and I still maintain a separate day job on top of my business to be able to pay my bills and afford food and housing, but at last I’m in a position where I can make the kind of entertainment that I want to produce. The past twenty years of struggle was so the next twenty years can be about success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friends do visit Colorado, I always have to take them to the one most kitschy and fun place there is – Casa Bonita, of course! Nobody even believes me the place is actually real until we go, and it’s always a fun experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve got to put a shout-out to my wife, Kelly Myers, who has supported me endlessly through my entire career. She was there when I was at my lowest, and when I’m at my highest. She’s always been the main guiding force to keep me on track.
