We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashleigh Graves and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashleigh, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“If you only do what you can do, you will never be greater than you are now.” Master Oogway, Kung Fu Panda. This quote is so important to me because I have always looked at life through the eyes of experiences. You have to stretch your wings in order for your life to have meaning. You have to go out and try things to know if it is something that resonates with you. My dad always supported this in me and he is the reason I started Dream Weaver Technology.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Since I mentioned my “Why” in the shoutout section, I’ll leave this geared more toward what I have learned in almost two years of operating Dream Weaver Technology (DWT). The yoga figurines I make are 100% mine! I design, adjust and print (using a Creality Ender 3 Pro) them from my laptop. Each one takes anywhere from one hour to several hours in the design phase to make sure that everything is anatomically correct. The adjustment phase is about an hour where I fill in anything that doesn’t look quite right. Then the print phase takes about four to 5 hours of the machine running. I do babysit it to make sure the figurine is printing right and doesn’t mess up halfway through.
They are my pride and joy of DWT and they are what I am best known for. I am also the marketer (mainly using Instagram) and the packing/shipper of my products. All of this is how I got here professionally; long days and nights, trial and error, feeling like giving up, bursts of inspiration to keep creating! Every part of this business has taught me to keep going and be strong. To accept failure as a time to learn and grow.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Considering I am a Colorado native (mainly the Springs) and I love taking people on tours, I know a lot of fun things to do! Some of my favorite restaurants are Monica’s Tacos, Gunther Toodies, Red Robin, Old Chicago, and of course a home-cooked meal! I love making food for my family or people I consider family. When it comes to drinks, I’m sort of basic, I love seltzer water, wine, and regular water. I am big on taking people to places around this area; living in Colorado Springs we are really close to many attractions that are 30 minutes to an hour away. I love going to Manitou, Helen Hunt Falls, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, Palmer Park, The Paint Mines (in Calhan), Black Forest, Larkspur (for the Renaissance Festival), Denver (Natural History Museum, Elitch Gardens, Water World and soon Meow Wolf) and my favorite place of all is off of Gold Camp Road. It is a specific place on the road that opens up and you can see the whole city beneath you! The best part of getting to all of these places is the drive between them. Colorado has some truly amazing scenery.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my family! My four girls and my husband deserve the most credit because they keep me creating and they support me by asking me to print them things they need or want. I would also dedicate this shoutout to my dad! When he passed away I was so lost and even though I had my family they weren’t filling the void my dad left. We got our first 3D printer a month after he passed away and I was hooked! I found something to help me adjust to him being gone and it allowed me to be creative in a whole new way.
