Meet Regan Young | LCSW and CEO of A New Leaf Therapy

We had the good fortune of connecting with Regan Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Regan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
A New Leaf Therapy is a high quality counseling center with almost 40 mental health therapists in 5 locations in Pueblo, Colorado. We specialize in working with helpers, like physicians, nurses, first responders, other therapists needing therapy, teachers, etc. who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, job unhappiness, and more. We primarily offer individual, family, couples, and group counseling for all ages. We pride ourselves on connecting with the community and offering groups, trainings, therapeutic services, and workshops to local organizations.

The most important factor behind the success of A New Leaf Therapy is our team. We have a team of incredibly talented and competent therapists who genuinely care about the success of every one of our clients. Our mission is actually to provide high quality care to our clients, employees, and graduate student interns. So we really care about our clients having a positive experience here, and we also care about making this a really high quality place to work and a high quality learning environment for our graduate students to do internship. We just won Best Mental Healthcare Provider and Best Place to Work in 2023’s Best of Pueblo, and we are so proud because both of those things are high priorities for us that we try to lean into genuinely and authentically.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I obtained my masters degree in social work in 2003 and have been practicing in the field of social work since 1999. I worked in a variety of community organizations and settings for many years before starting a private practice, which was a great benefit because it gave me the opportunity to see most scenarios firsthand and develop my skills as a therapist to be able to provide high quality therapy services. Starting a business is an entirely different skillset from being a therapist and I was glad to not have to be learning how to do both at the same time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Pueblo is a hidden gem in Colorado. We have a beautiful downtown Riverwalk, close access to the mountains, and a reservoir.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
While I am the person who started A New Leaf Therapy and struggled through the first few years of building the practice, the true success of the organization is a culmination of the collaboration of an incredible group of people who work there. Now that A New Leaf Therapy is 9 years old, it is a mature business with good systems, solid processes, and a positive reputation in the community. We are in the business of changing lives, and the quality of the team is what makes that possible.
