Meet Renee Pawloski | Personal Color Analyst

We had the good fortune of connecting with Renee Pawloski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Renee, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from the suburbs of Detroit, MI. I grew up in a very loving family of modest means that prioritized hard work in everything we did; kindness and connection in relationships; and generosity with our time and talents. My parents gave us room to explore our interests and supported us in everything we chose to pursue. I was curious about everything, especially anything creative or in the arts. I had a great aunt who lived in Detroit who took us to museums and plays who fostered my love of art, theater, design and culture. We were also a big soccer family and spent summers traveling around Michigan to our tournaments. Today, I am still curious about everything and love to learn new things. In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being active outdoors, volunteering and doing whatever creative art I happen to be into at the moment. In my professional life, I work hard to connect with clients to build a sense of safety and trust during our appointments and foster an inspiring and fun experience. I enjoy building up my clients’ confidence, helping them see the beauty in the way they were created in a new light.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a personal color analyst educated in the True Colour International 12 Tone Method of PCA. Personal color analysis is the process of analyzing your natural color tones to find the most harmonious colors that let your unique beauty shine through. Do you ever look at your closet full of clothes, but still feel like you have nothing to wear? Do you wonder why you often get compliments when you wear certain colors, or why some colors make you look washed out, tired, or sick? The answer: personal color harmony and color dis-harmony. Humans are uniquely created. Your natural hair, skin and eye color tones are determined by pigments found within your body. I use a series of calibrated drapes to analyze your personal coloring to help you figure out your color tone and then accurately place you into one of the 12 scientifically organized TCI color palettes. Knowing your best colors helps you shop smarter, dress with intention and finally build a wardrobe and makeup collection that truly reflects the best you.
Color analysis has come a long way from the outdated four season system from the 80’s. The TCI method is in depth and thorough. It is based on the science of natural color harmony, accurate interpretation of the Munsell color system, full-spectrum light theory, human physiology and psychology. My color education included a week spent learning the method and working with clients in Dallas, followed by a three month period working with test clients near my then-home in suburban Chicago. Just as I tell my clients when they are learning about color theory during our session, learning to understand color in a new way takes patience. It took time to hone my eye as an analyst. I love to learn and grow, but the first six months during which I started my business were one of the most challenging periods of my life as I grew my color analyst skills alongside launching my business, website, socials, etc.
I relocated to the Denver area last summer, so I still consider myself “new” to Colorado. Launching my business in a new state where I didn’t know anyone was hard work and came with many challenges. I am always trying to network and find other business owners in the Denver area to partner with and support. Building community both personally and professionally takes time and being a business owner can be all-consuming. As I urge my clients to embrace themselves exactly as they are, I have learned to trust myself, be true to my values, maintain my personal boundaries and protect the peace in my work/life balance.
I am now almost three years into my business. At the core, I really want my brand and story to be one about connection and celebration of every individual. Since I was a young girl, I have LOVED supporting and lifting up my people. Often friends would call me for advice or to just vent about a problem. Being a color analyst, I have the privilege of meeting many different people from many walks of life and from all corners of the globe. I strive to meet them exactly where they are at the moment. Color analysis can be fun and lighthearted, but it can also go so much deeper. Life can take many twists and turns. I have had two clients come in recently who lost their wardrobes in housefires. I have had clients come in who are battling illnesses or depression and are looking for ways to find their way back to themselves. It may sound dramatic, but personal color analysis really can be powerful, emotional and life-changing. I see every appointment as an opportunity to hold a mirror up to reflect the beauty and light I see in each client as they were uniquely created. I like to think that I am in the business of empowering my clients by helping them recognize, celebrate and embrace their uniqueness at any age! In the process, I hope to impart a robust knowledge of color, instill a strong sense of self-confidence and leave them in a better place than before we started, ready to harness the power of color to look and feel their very best.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh gosh, I am still a newbie to the Denver area myself. I live in the suburbs south of the city, so I am definitely not an expert in the hot spots in Denver proper. I love to ski and hike and have spent lots of time in the mountains, but I am still getting to know the offerings in the summer. I love music and one of the things I always do when people are visiting is check the schedule at Red Rocks to see if there is a show we’d like to catch. We often take guests to Golden for an afternoon, grabbing lunch and a Barmen Pilsner at Old Capital Grill & Smokehouse, then doing some shopping. I always love popping into Yo Colorado and I have had some great luck at Rewind consignment shop there. I also enjoy popping around downtown Littleton’s many restaurants, roof top bars and shops. I love Ruby Jane boutique, which just opened a location in Littleton this Spring. I enjoy a little half-day spent in Castle Rock too. My teen daughters and I or my 40-something friends and I can spend quite a few hours shopping at The Barn and The Emporium meandering throughout the different vignettes/rooms. We recently discovered Goldie Links Jewelry on our last trip to Castle Rock, where my daughter and her friend made custom charm bracelets and their own lip gloss.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am a pretty lucky girl who has some pretty amazing people in my life. I would not be where I am with my business without the support of my family. I have three children and have always lived away from our extended family. My husband traveled extensively for work, so we decided I would stay home with the kids when they were little. When they were older and my husband’s travel schedule changed, I decided to get my color education and start my color analysis business. My husband was (and still is!) my biggest supporter. My children knew I would not have as much time for them as I did when I wasn’t working outside the home, but they cheered me on as well, leaving me notes as I started out and often commenting on my socials now:).
My mentors, Amelia Butler, the founder of the True Colour International color analysis method and Rebecca Reid of Colorpolitan in Dallas, are just incredible business women and expert color analysts. I am so grateful to have received my color analyst education in the TCI method with Amelia and Rebecca who continue to inspire me, educate me and challenge me! Our group of TCI analysts is amazing and are a huge source of support. We are always sharing resources with eachother, encouraging eachother and helping problem solve pinch points. I also owe a big thanks to my family and friends who were my original 15 test clients as I sharpened my skills and practiced analyzing them. My extended family and friends have always been super supportive too, helping share my posts and spread the word with referrals. I moved to the Denver area last summer and have made a few connections with other local small business owners who have been helpful in supporting each other’s businesses.
