We had the good fortune of connecting with Rhonda Nimerichter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rhonda, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As scary as it was, I felt it was worth the risk. Better to have tried and fail than to regret not trying later on in life and think about what could have been.
I had experienced getting Fairy Hair several times and I believed in the product and the process, but more importantly, I believed in myself. I think if you want something bad enough, you can make it happen! It helps to have good people in your corner too in which I did.
It took awhile to get the word out and draw interest, but in my frustration another small business owner told me to give it 3 years. Crazy as it sounds, the month my business turned 3 years old it took off and grew substantially. I found that once a client had experienced the magic of Fairy Hair, they were hooked!
It was an investment in which I have no regrets. It’s been an amazing journey.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Prior to owning Colorado Fairy Hair, I worked 38 years in the telecommunications world. Retirement from there was long overdue, but I was a single mom trying to make ends meet. I felt I was to young to be fully retired and wanted something fun to do that I enjoyed. One of my biggest obstacles was being shy and the fear of being rejected. I have definitely come out of my shyness (at least it doesn’t show) and have come to realize that my product and service is not for everyone and thats ok. There are plenty that are thrilled with it. I love making my customers feel special and seeing the smiles on their faces when they first see the Fairy Hair in the mirror.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being so close to the mountains, I think visitors to Colorado need to see just how beautiful the Rocky Mountains are. Some of my favorite places are Telluride, Black Canyon of Gunnison National Park, Steamboat Springs (tubing down the Yampa River), Glenwood Springs (Iron Mountain hot springs), Vail, Breckenridge and Pikes Peak (Cog Railway). I used to enjoy skiing (knees can’t handle it now), but now I would suggest rafting, fishing, hiking, sightseeing, snowmobiling, e-biking. We have so many trails for hiking and 4 wheeling. Colorado has casino’s and so many good restaurants of all ethnicities. The Golden Bee in Colorado Springs near the famous Broadmoor Hotel is a old English Pub that serves yards of beer, live music, and has a rooftop patio. Taking in a concert at Red Rocks amphitheater is also a great experience. Lookout mountain has Mother Cabrini Shrine and at night the view of Denver and the lights is beautiful. Perhaps a visit to Chart House restaurant in Genesse prior.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family was very supportive and encouraging and even help advertise. My sister Jodee introduced me to the product and was the one who suggested that I should look into my own business of Fairy Hair. She very generously supported me not just with cheering me on, but with the start up fees. She believed in me and my passion for it. My 90 year old father even agreed to wear the sparkly Fairy Hair! Jodee introduced me to another entrepreneur of a similar business, Leslie, who has been so helpful and supportive all hours of the day/night with technical or business questions. Both have been so encouraging and supportive. I will forever be grateful for their continued support!
