We had the good fortune of connecting with Ricky Podsiadlo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ricky, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Being able to build something of my own from scratch has always been a dream. Building a business is hard work but it’s work that is fun and keeps me motivated. I want to continue to grow Embrewdery while also building other businesses as well.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Embrewdery was created from a passion of craft beer and traveling. We have been selling customized merchandise to breweries since 2015 and we are avid craft beer enthusiasts having visited over 1,000 breweries all over the US and worldwide! Having traveled to breweries across the world has helped us understand the need for quality merchandise. Brewery customers want to support and wear a breweries brand. We help the breweries by delivering them quality merchandise that their customers are proud to wear while being comfortable.
One of the biggest lessons is to learn from your mistakes and have the courage to fail. Making mistakes and failing is OK, it’s how you deal with those mistakes and failures that can set you apart from your competition. There have been many instances where we made mistakes but we learned from those mistakes to improve our processes and customer expierence. Making a mistake, owning up to it, and then fixing that mistake while communicating to a customer is what will set you apart and give you much better customer retention.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Breweries would be the itinerary! Recommendations would be to stay in River North (RiNo) or Lower Highlands (LoHi) and explore all the amazing craft beer that Denver has to offer. Would recommend by spending a day in RiNo to explore all the cool stores and breweries in the area. Stops should include Great Divide Brewing Barrel Bar, Ratio Beetworks, Bierstadt Lagerhaus, and Woods Boss Brewing. There are many more great breweries in RiNo but those are a good starting point. Other must visit breweries in Denver would include Cerebral Brewing, Our Mutual Friend Brewing, Zuni Street Brewing, Crooked Stave, and Novel Strand Brewing.
Depending on the season it is definitely worthwhile to checkout a sporting event – Football Broncos, Basketball Nuggets, Baseball Rockies, Hockey Avalanche.
Another MUST DO is to visit Red Rocks Park and Ampitheatre as this is one of if not the best music venues in the world! No matter who is playing if there is a concert when you are there, you must go.
If you have access to car then you can visit all the beautiful nature Colorado has to offer. Rocky Mountain National Park is a treasure and also a must visit.
If you want to spend some time in the mountains then you need to visit Breckenridge or Vail areas. While you are traveling there you MUST STOP at Outer Range Brewing. This could be the best brewery in Colorado at the moment!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First I would like to give a shoutout to my parents who came here from Poland with nothing and started their own store front market in Brooklyn, NY. Growing up around that environment and even working in the store as a little kid helped shape who I am today and why I have my own business now.
For Embrewdery I want to give a shoutout to all the craft breweries that started their breweries in the early 2010s! Traveling a lot during those years and visiting over 1,000 breweries to date is what helped me see a need for quality merchandise to be sold in breweries across the country. I remember traveling to Breckenridge in 2010 and going to the Breckenridge Brewery for craft beers and food which is what really kicked off my craft beer obsession.
