We had the good fortune of connecting with Robyn Hargrove and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robyn, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success/the success of my brand is the vision and faith to fulfil that vision. Back when I was in massage school, I had a profound vision. We were learning about Energy Work and our teacher was guiding us in a meditation. During my experience, a seed was planted in the top of my head and an otherworldly, luminescent/white lotus flower bloomed out of that seed. It seemed a similar looking spiritual representation of myself entered into the center of the flower where the seed had been planted, and what I felt was an overcoming sense of peace and love throughout my entire being. My hands were radiating heat and I knew God had given me my new heartbeat of love. That divine vision, in 2008, was the first seed that I consciously planted that would become Behind These Hands Healing Center. Here we are now, in 2021, a year after a Global Pandemic has completely changed the vision I had back in 2008. Looking back on the past couple of years, I see a new vision and direction for my business and taking it to the next level that I am calling Nest Level Healing. The components of Nest Level Healing have been important groundwork for where I am now. Each person, every tear, every training, every obstacle and every blessing was a foundational building block to the Nest Level. Personally, being uncomfortable with Massage because of COVID has not been easy. My vision for Nest Level Healing reflects the current state of our world and I couldn’t be more astonished by God’s divine timing to guide me and my small business so clearly. Nest Level Healing is the natural NEXT LEVEL for Behind These Hands Healing Center. I am following my instincts to Nest and retreat into safe spaces of refuge and comfort where we have all the support we need. I am bringing in specific tools, resources and people to build this new environment for us to feel that we are doing what we are supposed to be doing as safely as possible. Throughout this, I have realized that even though my vision has changed, I choose growth as the most successful option and the intention remains to share the heartbeat of Gods love.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business has had quite the journey. I think what sets me apart from others is the heartbeat that is, “Behind These Hands.” From the time I was given the vision for my path, to now, this remains at my core. I am proud of the fact that I took a huge risk and leap of faith to start and build my own small business. There have been countless ups and downs along the way. The easiest part for me was providing quality Massage Therapy and cultivating a space/environment where our guests felt safe and comfortable enough to go through/grow though their healing. Some of the challenges I faced were burnout at points, learning and setting healthy boundaries, financial unknowns and of course COVID. The vulnerable nature of our industry along with a Global Pandemic is not ideal. I wish I could say that things were back to normal but I have grieved Behind These Hands Healing Center for what is was, and surrendered to my new path that is under construction. I am now doing business as Nest Level Healing and the other members of my team have all taken the path to reconstruction as well. This is a full circle feeling and everyone needs to do what honors their comfort and safety levels. There have been a plethora of lessons I’ve learned along the way including the unwavering trust when it comes to choosing love over fear. Right before we were mandated to shut down in March 2020, I took a level one class on Massage Cupping. I got one week to implement my new skills and then everything changed. Like many, I was quarantined for two months. Once things began to open back up, I felt called to continue my education and complete Massage Cupping certification. Although I was struggling with the idea of being unable to socially distance and having to wear masks during massage, I know this was right for me and has reignited my passion for Massage Therapy. Even though it looks different, I’m thankful that I get to continue to hold space and share my heartbeat.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a Colorado Native, I’ve been fortunate to experience the local and tourist side of Colorado. I highly recommend exploring both sides of the Colorado lifestyle. Some of my favorite spots to connect in nature are the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, the Marjorie Wildlife Nature Preserve, as well as The Hudson and Botanical Gardens. Currently, I prefer to stay outdoors when the weather allows and have been adventuring to places in the mountains and am looking forward to soaking again at the Hot Sulfur Springs, (a town close to Winter Park). Supporting local businesses is important to me, and I try to order food from the places that are still open. I recently tried a delicious burger at Grow + Gather, an Urban Farm Feedery in Englewood. Even in the winter, I make a point to grab dessert from The Constellation Ice Cream, on 29th street, they have such unique flavors and a cool brand! In the past summers, I’ve enjoyed food trucks and live music at Jazz at the Park, (City Park) and have also been privy to see live Jazz at a fancy club called Nocturn. Also, if you don’t know about live music put on by SoFar Denver, you’re missing out. Because of COVID, I’ve been happy to explore more of the state I’m from, and for that, I’m grateful! Having deep roots here, I’ve seen Colorado grow and change over the years and there’s no secret why people stay.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The success of my business has much to do with the support of my family and friends. Growing up, my mom instilled the importance of Massage Therapy and a strong work ethic. Each member of my family has supported me and my path with this business in more ways than I ever thought possible. The other Massage Therapists that were on my team prior to downsizing due to COVID were also an integral part of this journey. I am grateful for each client, every obstacle and all the blessings that has lead me to this point.
