We had the good fortune of connecting with Rocky Trifari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rocky, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
As a digital nomad, work life balance is paramount. Keeping different parts of your life in compartments is one of the best pieces of advice I could give to anyone looking to work remotely while living a location-independent lifestyle. Work life balance is like playing a harmony where each aspect of your life needs to be carefully tended to while always keeping your wellbeing at the center of everything. Since it is so easy for work responsibilities to spill over into our personal lives and vice versa, I try to keep everything in an allotted space. To do that, I live by a daily planner. Organizing my day into 30-minute increments has given me total control over my work day, personal life, and daily responsibilities. This ultimately helps me stay less stressed throughout the work week while also making my days substantially more productive. It’s a total win.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Pursuing a location-independent lifestyle as a digital nomad has been one of the least conventional career paths I have ever taken. Following this type of lifestyle meant establishing a 100% digital workflow that I could rely on to support myself. I’ve always had a passion for blogging and travel blogging in particular was something that has appealed to me since I was a child writing about travel experiences in a pen and paper notebook. For more than 10 years, I have been working on developing various blogs and learning how to make money online through different marketing channels. Once I decided to finally make the jump, I was forced to learn new skills and I realized I was still only just beginning. In the realm of digital marketing, things are forever changing. Traveling solo as a digital nomad requires taking many calculated risks, and accepting certain levels of uncertainty in your day-to-day life, while still requiring as much planning as possible. Having a blog has allowed me to share what I’ve learned about travel while reaching new audiences and learning how to create my own sales online.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Okay, hear me out on this one, at some point during the visit, you’d need to pay a visit to The Denver Biscuit Company to order their GIANT cinnamon rolls, overflowing biscuit sandwiches, and a spicy Bloody Mary. The food was off the charts. Those savory biscuit breakfast sandwiches are hard to beat. If you’ve got a lot of time in Denver, you could also visit the Denver Botanic Gardens, the International Church of Cannabis, and take a stroll through City Park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe so much of my success so far to my family who has accepted, loved, and supported me unconditionally even when I informed them I was leaving the country with a one-way airline ticket to go backpacking around the world with no plans of how or when I’d be returning.

My family and friends are those who I attribute most of my success with travel blogging to. They’ve always been amazing pillars of support. I feel so grateful that these cherished people in my life do such an incredible job with checking in on me even when I am not in the same country. It really means the world to me.
