We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosemary Enea and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rosemary, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My career began when I was only 6 years old as a child. I was always creating and playing melodies with a small piano I had at home. Playing made me feel good. I was an introverted and very shy child, but when I played I felt free. My parents then decided to make me study music. I haven’t stopped since then. After studying classical piano at the conservatory in Palermo (Sicily), I immediately embarked on a concert career. I later started composing music for theatre productions and soundtracks for documentaries. Playing and creating for me is a need, a necessity. I can express my true soul, without filters. In my music I express everything that words cannot express. In my music I express everything that words cannot express.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art stems from the need to express my feelings. The thing that sets me apart from others is my passionate way of creating music and playing music. Listening to my notes with your eyes closed you can hear the sea, the smell of dew, etc. Choosing to do this profession was not easy. In Italy it is very difficult to make a living from art. I for one, if I had not later also chosen to teach, I would not have made it. Certainly if I had not had tenacity and if I had not fought for my passion I would not be here now.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take him to Sicily.
I would start in Palermo, I would show him the historical centre made up of Arab/Norman, Byzantine, Art Nouveau and Baroque art. I would make him eat street food at the Ballarò market. Then I’d take him to Mondello and make him eat a wonderful pasta with urchins at Poldo’s. Then I would show him the salt pans of Trapani and Marsala with the Stagnone reserve. The Faraglioni of Scopello, there obligatory gastronomic stop is the “pane cunsato”. I would take him to Piazza Armerina to show him the Roman mosaics. Then I would take him to the Cathedral of Sale in Realmonte. From there I would go to Agrigento and its Valley of the Temples. Syracuse with its Ortigia, Catania. In short, all of Sicily is full of art and wonderful food and the people are welcoming so for me it’s paradise.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my success to my family, who always believed in me and supported me at all times. I wholeheartedly thank my fiancé and my friends who strongly believe in me. My thanks also go to my teacher, who trained me with patience and dedication.
