Meet Rufio Jimenez | Promoter, producer, performer and bartender

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rufio Jimenez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rufio, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor of my business is the eccentricity of the type of events I produce and host. I feel what makes my events unique from other events is the eclectic experience and creating a safe zone for all expressionists from goth, queer, kinky, burner to be you!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Rufios story: It all started when I first started to come out of the closet as a gay young man in Denver. I went to my first gay nightclub at Tracks Denver and saw a GoGo dancer. I was amazed about the fun and safe environment. I auditioned with a couple local lgbtq+ bars in Denver and got hired. I like to say that I found my place as “Rufio” a lost boy in the community through the arts of dance. I decided to start my own performing arts team and expanded my team with many new clients and promoters from the lgbtq+, alternative and edm communities. As my business and team started to grow I started to add specialty performers such as fire performers, stilt walkers, sword swallowers, aerialists and more. As years passed I expanded my business and built long term clients and became more of a entertainment manager than a performer myself. I like to say that I’m king of all my lost children from neverland. I give each of my team members a platform to inspire others and find a part of them selves as I did when I was first coming out. I am now throwing my own very successful events and now using my performing arts team for the entertainment. From “GoGo” to now “promo” I am now a independent event coordinator that produces Denvers largest Kink fetish balls, goth dance party’s, art collective events, cultural educational forums, fashion shows and more. I hope to expand my business in the future to coordinating fun themed weddings and galas.I also am planning on expanding my events to other city’s such as New Orleans, Vegas and Texas. I believe magic does exist within and it exists in the power of creating and inspiring others to create.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a born and raised Colorado native I would take them to a couple local Drag Brunch’s at Triangle or Hamburger Mary’s. We would go to Cheeseman Park for a fun picnic and play frisbee. I would take them on a mini capital hill ghost tour. During the pandemic I researched the haunted history of Denver and started a bike haunted tour called Ghost Riderz . My favorite spots to hike are in Boulder or in the springs at the garden if the gods. My favorite spots to camp are in hun is on where in went to school . At night I would take them to my club Tracks Denver or even take them to my childhood favorite spot the 88 drive in movie theater.
