We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Nugent and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It really has been an ongoing process since 2015. I have been only woodworking for a short time. It really is just my therapy and escape from the everyday stresses. I also have a degree in Graphic Design and have been doing freelance work off and on for the last 16 years and thought it would be great to incorporate my designs with my woodworking. My specialty however is logo design. I have created more than 2 dozen logos for other small business. I hope to grow the Graphic Design side of the business a little more and keep my woodworking as my escape.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always had an eye for art. I enjoy the process of working on something or with someone to create a one of a kind design that fits their brand/business. I graduated from Aims Community College in Greeley with a Associates Degree in 2002. I had the opportunity of a life time with a local snowboard company. I went through multiple interviews, things were looking promising and at the last moment I had been passed over, because of experience. Because I chose this, I had missed out on an internship. For any aspiring Graphic Designers out there, this industry is very hard to find a steady job and the one piece of advice I would give, is if given the opportunity to participate in an internship, take it!

I have been doing freelance graphic design for about 16 years. My specialty has been logo design. I enjoy creating simple, yet bold logos that will fit your brand. My moto is “Let me help you, find your brand” Most of my cliental has been by referrals from the work I have done for other clients. Social media has been a huge help in getting my brand out, I use Instagram mostly and started TikTok this year. Using Social media is a great way to get your brand out there. It has helped me!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Old Town Fort Collins. Great restaurants, music venues and with a laid back vibe. Favorite restaurant The Rio. I love music so, The Aggie, Washington’s has it covered.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe everything to my lovely wife of 16 years. She has been my rock and has encouraged me along the way. My 2 daughters, they inspire me to be great!
