We had the good fortune of connecting with Sacha Jarmon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sacha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started this business with my mom, Carol (“Ro” in SARO), at the start of the pandemic as a way to hold each other accountable for creative time in the ways we love most that really compliment each other. She sculpts amazing large stone and metal sculptures and has my entire life. I have always been so inspired by her and her pieces–she is most definitely my greatest muse. I have always made jewelry and was inspired to pick up a new skill (micro-welding) to keep my spirits up at a time where things were very uncertain for everyone. I have always made jewelry but this took things to another level for me. I am completely self taught in my trade of micro-welding and I am very proud of that!
It quickly evolved as a way to connect with people in our community at a time where we all needed it most. Even completely masked up, sharing our intimate experience in our studio of creating truly one-of-a-kind, very special, sentimental jewelry with the people we love most (our partner, our family, our best friends), became a very special experience that caught on by word of mouth and then grew from there.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our business is completely different from others in that it is essentially fine jewelry design, on the spot, with the guidance of a personal jewelry designer, that helps you create a piece packed with as much depth and meaning as you’d like, and then you have the opportunity to make it permanent right then and there, which is a very exciting and novel experience in and of itself. Our process can be very ceremonial, very special, to commemorate moments, big & small, with the people we love. We are honored to help our community celebrate love, family, friendship, and loved ones who have passed.
I love this quote of mine that is on our website that I think sums it up really well:
WE LIKEN OUR PROCESS VERY MUCH TO A CUSTOM TATTOO DESIGN EXPERIENCE, BUT WITH BEAUTIFUL PRECIOUS METAL & STONE. IN OUR STUDIO, YOU HAVE THE ULTIMATE CREATIVE FREEDOM TO CREATE A TRULY CUSTOM PIECE THAT TELLS A STORY. MANY CLIENTS OR GROUPS WHO COME TOGETHER WILL GET A PIECE OF EACH OTHERS CHAIN TO PLAY WITH SYMBOLOGY, MIX METALS TO PLAY WITH COLOR, OR ADD STONES TO ENHANCE ENERGY AND ALSO MEANING. IT’S A VERY SPECIAL PROCESS AND WE ARE SO HONORED TO SHARE IT WITH YOU. Can you print this in regular text versus all caps as I originally wrote it?
We are also big supporters of female founded small businesses and artists and do a lot of showcases to support this community as well as events. We just hosted and raised over $40k for reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ mental health resources in early September with our event, Precious Change.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For a week long trip, part of it would 100% be a visit up in the mountains to Grand Lake or to Devils Thumb Ranch (or both!). I love the mountains so much and those are two of my favorite places that are both within a couple of hours of the Denver/Boulder area.
I would spend a day or two vintage shopping in Denver and exploring the cute restaurants and different neighborhoods there. My favorite neighborhood to hang out is Cherry Creek North–I am biased because I spend the most time there because that is where our Denver studio is based.
I would spend a day or two around the Boulder area hiking and exploring with a golden hour cocktail and dinner at Flagstaff house to take in the view.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom! Carol, my co-founder, my partner and my greatest inspiration. My mom has been a very talented professional artist since before I was born–she works in many mediums including paint, mixed media, fiber, and is also a general contractor and designer for historical homes. Throughout her career, she has focused most of her energy into stone and metal sculpting, and for me, her works are like none other when it comes to inspiration. I could stare at them for hours! The birth of our company, Love Saro, is largely inspired by her sculptures and the duality of our styles as artists and as mother-daughter. At the start of the pandemic, I spent a lot of my time beading and shooting pictures of my pieces on her sculptures. It clicked that we had something when we put our spirits together, in many ways! Today, her sculptures serve as a large part of our studio decor and vibe as they really set the tone. I am so excited to see what she will create next!
