Meet Sage Brunk | Resale and consignment Bridal Boutique Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sage Brunk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sage, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
About 5 years ago I was previously engaged. I bought a stunning dress that I paid $1,500. So when it didn’t work out I was frustrated at the selling process. I posted it multiple times but it never caught any traction. Fast forward to last year I went to another prominent retailer in Colorado Springs and the stylist was beyond unprofessional on top of putting me in a dress that was more than twice what I repeatedly said my budget was. I really loved this dress, then the stylist asked my friends and family to help me buy the dress. I was appalled and at that point extremely embarrassed so I bought the dress myself.
Later on in the planning process I joined multiple Facebook groups geared towards brides who were looking for support of any and all kids during, before and after their own wedding days. While on there, I would see many posts looking to find or looking to sell wedding dresses. Suddenly I realized that we needed to have a resale and consignment store since there is nothing quite like it in Colorado Springs and women are picky, for good reason! We want to touch and feel and see the dresses we are spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on, that will be held forever in photographs. But when we only wear them for maybe 6 hours it’s hard to justify spending that much money. It’s easy to make more affordable choices online with different weblike Azazie or Lulu’s but the problem, for me and I assume most women, is that what we sometimes think something might look good but then it looks completely wrong on us!! So it’s a tough gamble to make and so I want to provide a solution to that! As well as the brides afterwards who want to make some of their investment back and resell their dress. It’s very difficult to sell because making efforts to meet and maybe have awkward fittings or meetings that are uncomfortable for either party is too much of a burden or inconvenient to set up. I want to meet brides where they are and provide quality gowns, personal service and solutions for everyone involved!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m still trying to establish myself professionally, this is a great idea. This is a need in the community. No one has done this the way that I am trying to do this and I fully believe this is potentially a very successful business venture

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to Burnt Toast downtown for the most delicious brunch, then I’d take them on a scooter ride through downtown and into Old Colorado City. I love hiking the incline or the GOG trails. Dancing at Mother Muffs or Thunder and Buttons for some pool is a must! Going to eat at the ColorMountain Brewery would be on the list and going to the Main Event for laser tag would be fun. Unfortunately our city doesn’t have that many attractions but we have a lot of stuff to do outdoors so hopefully a lot of that!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Brunk and Brunk Inc are my in laws, Tom, Brenda and Alec have been the most supportive and caring people in my journey outside of my husband. They have offered to help me get established and given so much advice that I would like to shoutout they reality and property management company
