Meet Sally Crunkleton | Professional dog trainer & hobby breeder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sally Crunkleton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sally, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have worked with dogs my whole life and long before I decided to make it my full time career, I trained dogs after working my previous corporate America job.
I previously worked for two other dog training companies and always wanted to branch out on my own.
After deciding to relocate from Georgia to Colorado, I decided to go for it!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe what sets True Potential K9 apart is that I have always believed in working with every dog and their owner as an individual. There is no one way with every dog, and my training is based on the needs of each client and their individual dog’s personality.
I am most proud of the position I am in today as the head trainer and owner of my own business. It’s been a process that has taken over 20 years and growing from a kid who just wanted to learn, to a volunteer, to a lead trainer at a previous company, to now owning my own and continuing to help people and their dogs live their best life together.
It was definitely a tough process…going from a steady, plentiful income with benefits to virtually living off of savings until I got my name out there was hard in the beginning…but I’ve always felt nothing worthwhile comes easily, and every second has been totally worth the leap.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being new to Colorado, I’d definitely want to take my best friend hiking in the beautiful Rockies! I’d also like to visit some of the more touristy places and check out the different local shops and eateries.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My childhood and family has shaped who I am today. I grew up on a small, hobby farm surrounded by cattle, working dogs, cats, chickens, etc. My passion for animals, particularly dogs started at a young age. Once I was grown I joined clubs involved with dog sports and training, sought mentors, apprenticeships, and education.
I started volunteering my time helping run obedience classes, helping individual dog owners, and it took off from there.
I have too many supporters and mentors to name, but my mother has always been my biggest supporter for chasing my dreams.
