We had the good fortune of connecting with Salvador Fox and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Salvador, what are you inspired by?
I’ve always felt like 3 major things inspired me. The first being watching Vivienne Westwood fashion shows as a kid, I was so infatuated by her ability to mix Punk & broken things and make them look so beautiful and unique. I wanted to capture the same thing with photography! The 2nd that really pushed my eye into creating moments using the camera and a subject would be Quentin Tarantino specifically KillBill! I wanted to make photos look like fierce movie stills! The last thing that really inspired me was my Mom. She’s also an artist and watching her paint and create these ideas only she understood was so cool to me. She definitely gave me my eye for creating!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love to say I tell stories through photography. Something that sets me apart from others is my ability to find beauty in the most run down and broken places! Getting to where I am now I had to learn how to be confident in myself and my art to put it out in the world and constantly share it with others. Going out to art exhibitions and meeting other creatives is such a great way to network and learn more about pushing your art! I become noticed for my unique locations, models and looks I’d style. I look at every aspect as a way to really tell a story through the photography! I started out doing fashion photography and was able to connect with a lot of brands, models, musicians and agencies! I’m so proud of my work in the fashion world but I’m most excited about is my change in direction with my photography! I’m still working on the big project but im excited to say I’m entering the world of interior design with my new projects!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely the first place I’d take my friend is the Museum of Art! Then we would do happy hour at Dos santos! Than lastly hit up my favorite spot X bar!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a huge shoutout to all my
Vixens who believe in my wild ideas and are always game to model the house down for me!
