We had the good fortune of connecting with Sam Cox and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sam, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wasn’t actually planning on creating a business. It sort of just happened. I mean, it started because I created this game, and it was fun and and then we just kept playing. Eventually, my friends started asking me to make a game for them, and yeah, one thing led to another. I ended up building a Kickstarter campaign. We raised a bunch of money and got it going. A lot of learning to get from Kickstarter to like a functional business, but now Glue Bunny Games is a business.

What should our readers know about your business?
As we I finished Kickstarter, we had to become more legit, so I formed an LLC, learned about buying bulk, started establishing wholesale buyer accounts with vendors so I could buy dice at better unit pricing. I didn’t know any of that. After learning all that, and going from nothing to now, we’re working with the 2 largest us suppliers in the US. I have connections across the ocean in China. So just like learning how to import freight and get items to me, And all the other things. I had to learn about accounting, bookkeeping. sales, marketing. I didn’t really know any of them. Read, watch videos to learn then, you just you sort of try something, maybe it works, maybe it just fails. Read more. Then try something new. But the whole process is a learning experience. I mean, constant learning. I’m still learning. Certain things are working, certain things are not, and we end them, and then try something new.

At this point, Glue Bunny Games has shipped games to all 50 states, and I think 17 countries. Now we’re establishing wholesale accounts across the US and looking to expand our UK distribution. We make fun games and its really catching on. It’s popular and most of it is word of mouth marketing. It’s just organically spread.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Obviously it depends on the time of year somebody is in town. But right now I’d say get outside, go see a show at Red Rocks. float down the river, go for hike in or near the mountains, hang out at a brewery or two or three.
