We had the good fortune of connecting with Sam Klaver and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sam, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
The business of hairstyling is a huge help to the community especially in these times. I think people have realized how much they appreciate us, and we appreciate them. We are a place to come when they need a minute to relax in the stressful times we are living in. I am so lucky to touch so many people and be with them through every moment of their life. My guests really do become my family and they help me as much as I help them. Also pretty cool I get to help boost their confidence, and send them out into the world with a little pep in their step!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
With almost 12 years of experience behind the chair and almost 7 years of experience as an educator I would say I am still learning every day. Continually evolving as a stylists, and educator is something I really take pride in. Once you stop learning you stop growing. I want the world to know it’s never to late to chase your dreams even if they seem like a stretch. You will never know unless you try!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’re visiting the city of Denver there are so many places I would recommend.

Denver Biscut Company for some bomb breakfast.
Postino Wine Cafe for great apps and wine.
El Five for a proper dinner and views of the city.
Meow Wolf for an immersive art experience.
Hop over to Golden for the Coors brewery tour! And then head to The Mill for food and drinks after.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a few people to dedicate my success to! First and foremost my boss, mentor, friend Nicole Blackburn. She has created a space for me to grow as a stylist, educator, and mentor to other stylists. Without her encouragement I would definitely not be where I am right now. Second my friend and mentor Terre Heath, she has been such a force in my career as an educator for Redken. She has helped me become a better educator and friend, always making sure I know who I’m serving. And lastly my boyfriend Joe for always supporting me and my decisions I make in my career. Encouraging me and always celebrating my accomplishments with me!
