We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Barela and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Working towards something that I can create, build, and explore has always been appealing to me. And as a Colorado native, supporting local communities here in Denver is one of the most important things to me. With GreenDoor, we started with thinking about how we can create a better experience for consumers and build a sense of community. As we evolve, we always ask how people are going to feel and how we can make it better. That’s something I want to spend all of my time on.
What should our readers know about your business?
GreenDoor is not just a business; it’s an experience. It started from being frustrated as consumers with how cannabis can be bought in Colorado. I actually gave up cannabis for a while because it was a hassle to get products that fit into my lifestyle.
We curate unique boxes of tried & true cannabis products that are complemented with high-quality, exclusive lifestyle items. We design each theme to seamlessly blend into various lifestyles, offering more than just cannabis, but a more holistic approach to lifestyle enhancement.
We put a lot of time and thought into our selection process to curate unique items that are typically hard to find or not readily available. This gives our customers a convenient, one-stop-shop experience that elevates their daily routines.
Additionally, we offer a hassle-free way to shop for cannabis related products through our online marketplace for delivery straight to your door.
While we currently offer our unique experience boxes exclusively in Colorado, we ship a wide range of other products nationally through our website, allowing us to reach customers across the entire United States. Our approach lets us cater to a broader audience while specializing our curated cannabis experiences within our local industry.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You could create a million different itineraries for Denver! That’s what everyone loves about this city, theres so much to do!
To start, I know its not “in the city” but its August right now so we’re definitely hitting the mountains to escape the heat, see gorgeous views, and drink some wine at Creekside Cellars. I live near Sloan’s Lake and the sunrises at this park are to die for, so that’s definitely on the list. Something else I like to do is take the light rail to Union Station, grab ice cream at Milkbox, walk through the Milk Market for the vibes and maybe a snack, grab a drink at McGregor’s Square, and if the Rockies are playing, go to Coor’s Field. Next, there’s always a popup event going on and my favorite are anything food or art related. This might be controversial but I think the Highlands Farmers Market is the best farmers market in Denver. Some of my top food spots are American Elm, Water Grill, Guard & Grace, Uchi, Little Mans, Bacon Social House, and Devil’s Food Bakery. And to get outside just a little more, we’ve gotta hit the Denver Botanic Gardens and do a quick par 3 at Harvard Glutch.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people have encouraged and helped me along the way. Of course, I want to shout out my parents because they raised me to believe I can achieve absolutely anything and were there to push and support me in anything I do. Also, my Co-founder, Damon is so incredibly determined and supportive, which encourages me every day.
