We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Farley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had the drive to want to start something on my own and have the flexibility and freedom within my career. Having your own business lets you run your day the way you want to, rather than working a 9-5 for someone else. I also enjoy the challenge of starting a business and seeing what I can and cannot do. Some people like to spend their money on going out for drinks with friends… I like to spend my money on starting businesses! It is truly a fun process for me.

What should our readers know about your business?
PeopleProud is an employee appreciation gift box company, helping employees feel valued and cared for at work. There are many general gift box companies out there, but at PeopleProud, we focus on helping companies celebrate their employees for any and all occasions. PeopleProud started at the end of 2019 so we have been in business now for about 1.5 years. The first 1.5 years has been interesting, to say the least. Starting a business is not easy – everyday you fail at something. Every single day. Sometimes multiple times per day. This is normal and is just a part of the process. It is taking these failures, learning from them, and applying them going forward. What keeps us going at PeopleProud is knowing that we are putting a Smile on employee’s faces when they receive their gift box. We are helping them feel worthy and appreciated. Unfortunately, there is not enough of that in this world today. Recognition and Appreciation is something every company should be doing and we are here to help them do so.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow! This is such a hard questions because Denver is amazing all around. Within Denver, I would definitely take my best friend to RiNo and go to some breweries. My favorite breweries are WoodsBoss, Ratio, 14er and River North. For food, I would definitely recommend some Pizza, either at Marco’s Coal Fired, Cart-Driver or Grabowski’s. If my best friends are feeling Mexican, I’d definitely take them to Los Chingones. Then of course, we would go to the mountains and do some hikes in Golden, Boulder and Breckenridge. Maybe even take them on a 14,000 ft mountain!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My indirect mentor is Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx. She inspires me to keep trying everyday and seeing her massive success is motivating as well.
