We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Glenn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Modern Plate was founded on the values of appreciation, celebration, compassion, and dependability. Our mission is to deliver a time of relaxation around the dinner table for the busy families serving our city. Taking the time to relax at home, with family or friends over a hot meal,  is just one small way to ignite change – it sets a new tone. Can you imagine a world where all families regularly ate dinner together, had no dishes to clean-up afterwards, and were nourished and satisfied? It is a small win, but a GREAT win!

The Modern Plate team is hopeful that our products become a vehicle for compassion, celebration, appreciation and dependability throughout the community as well. Did your friend just have a baby? Send them a meal! Is your neighbor going through a tough time? Send them a meal! Is your co-worker celebrating a milestone? Send them a meal! Are you thankful for a friend’s help? Send them a meal! We make it easy to showcase these values in your own life, and towards others.

As a community focused organization, we offer the opportunity for non-profits within Denver Metro to join forces and raise funds with Modern Plate. Any school, sport, religious, or other non-profit organization can host an online fundraising campaign. Modern Plate takes care of the heavy lifting, and 10% of all sales revenue is sent back to the organization. Our goal is to support those who are supporting the city. Additionally, a percentage of all revenue is donated to local non-profits who are supporting family services.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are most proud of our ability to pivot and invent. Our company idea came from a need that was brought to light during COVID. However, we quickly realized it was generally an unmet need, even in “normal times”.

We all want to be hospitable, giving of our time, efforts, resources… but when life is going full steam ahead, it’s hard to prioritize “good intentions”. We are proud to offer a product that is affordable and easy to gift, tasty, and nutritious. Additionally, with everyone working from home, managing homeschooling, and drawing boundaries with their work-family life, our meals are a perfect heat and serve option to end the day around the table together.

Our team is looking forward to the next wave of meals, gift boxes, and product partnerships with other local vendors. We are just getting started on the creative journey, and there is a wide-open path in front of us!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whenever anyone visits for a long weekend, it’s always a combination of mountain time and city time! Going South? Let’s head to the Broadmoor for a walk around the property and lunch, hike the Incline, and stop at the Cheyenne Zoo if there are kiddos. Heading North, we love Old Town Fort Collins, Crooked Stave Brewery and hitting up Snarf Sandwiches on the way home. Glenwood Springs is one of our favorite Mountain Towns, with Hanging Lake Hike, the Adventure Caverns, Iron Mountain Hot Springs, the Roaring Fork River and Aspen right down the road. Silver Dollar Lake Trail in Georgetown is a favorite as well! If you take 285 to get there, stop in at the Shaggy Sheep for a butterscotch cookie!

In town, we enjoy hosting at home, my husband smokes a variety of meat and I love putting together a unique charcuterie boards. Fun cocktails too of course! Brewery tours, including the Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton. A good bike ride along the Cherry Creek Trail, from REI downtown to Cherry Creek State Park and end with stand up paddle board at the reservoir!
