Meet Samantha Lois | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Lois and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I always knew one day I would be a business owner. I have always had that side to me and always knew it would happen. I started my photography career in 2018 when I wanted to start my own food blog after finding a passion for creating and photographing food. My wife wanted me to pursue my passions and got me my first DSLR Camera and laptop. I would do portrait photography now and then, but really fell in love with portrait and wedding photography, so I focused in on it and really getting my name out there and am blown away by the love and support of my clients. I continue to work full time while pursuing my dreams and passion everyday to one day only work what I love doing most, photography.

Starting a business is a lot, it takes a lot of time drive and passion and you have to give it your all. I spent and continue to spend hours on YouTube, Courses, and learning everything I can to be a better photographer and to be successful with my business. If you want to start your own business then just start or you never will.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Samantha Cherie Photography is more than just a photographer who takes your pictures and sends you an online gallery than done. I strive to build a relationship with my clients and an experience that has them laughing, crying (in a good way), and having fun. I want my clients to build those core memories when they come to their shoot or on their wedding day. I want them to look at a photo I took and remember why they were laughing at that moment. I build that relationship with my clients to bring them real, authentic, romantic, and love in the photos I deliver to them. Has this journey been easy? Not at all. You may feel awkward or not sure if you’re going to know what to do in photos but the same happens to the photographer. It has taken time for me to overcome the fear of my clients hating their photos or the experience with me. I had to believe in myself and build my confidence that I know my clients come to me because they love my work and they love the person behind the camera. To build a strong business you need to be you and show up as yourself and don’t be afraid to show it. Your client wants to know who they are booking with and not just the pretty pictures they see on the internet. When you chose Samantha Cherie Photography you will get a photographer who will make you laugh, fix your hair and make up, and be a shoulder to cry on.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’re coming to Albuquerque, NM you are going to want to stay at one of the amazing AirBNB’s that are available around old town. For breakfast we are going to the Frontier or Wecks. For lunch we are going to Green Jeans and Santa Fe Brewery, or Sawmill they both have several delicious food options, for dinner we would go to El Pinto or Sadies for real authentic and delicious New Mexican food. For drinks there are so many amazing breweries and wineries, we would go to Marble, Bosque, Santa Fe Brewery, Los Poblanos, Lescombes Winery, or Casa Rodena. For activities we would go to Santa Fe for the day and explore the plaza and amazing food and drinks there. We can stay in town and explore old town and the cute shops there and amazing Noisy Water Winery or Breweries. We can take a trip to Jemez Mountains and see the Soda Dam, Valles Caldera or Fenton Lake. We would spend time hiking the sandia mountains and if its balloon fiesta time we will certainly be going there at least once.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife Lauren deserves all of the recognition. She has been my biggest supporter and cheerleader. There have been many times where I wanted to give up or put myself down and not believe in myself and she is always right there reminding me I am strong, talented and passionate. My family is the best and I couldn’t do it without them. My son is my little hype man.
