We had the good fortune of connecting with Hazel & Samantha Chorney & Neuhring and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hazel & Samantha, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
<Meta Gals> was founded because we were sick of the antiquated norm of business. We constantly felt like we were under extreme pressure at work which ultimately was harming our mental health.
Before we started <Meta Gals> our norm was to wake up at 6 am in the morning and work until well after 10 pm, rarely taking breaks and constantly feeling like it still wasn’t enough.
And honestly, it’s been a learning process to restructure our work days and weeks to allow time for mental health and wellness.
We do see that when a healthy balance is created for each individual, that’s when creativity and inspiration thrive.
We have worked hard to create processes within our company and cultivate an environment where mental health is valued above all else and space for that is normalized.
We know that as we grow our team it is crucial that as leaders we practice what we preach, create time for ourselves and our families, and create a space that feels good to work in.
We are strong advocates for work hard, play hard – and we understand that each person’s ‘flow state’ can look different. We work hard to provide our clients the best quality service possible, we also allow for plenty of time doing whatever fills your cup.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Meta Gals is founded on the belief that every business has a meaningful story to tell and an opportunity to create a community aligning with its brand and mission.
We aim to support brands, especially women-owned brands, in reaching the right people and providing quality content with a concise strategy. We help businesses thrive and cheer on their successes.
We bring transparency and clarity to an industry that is multi-faceted and complex. We are committed to providing clients actionable insight into their businesses, website, and marketing strategies.
It certainly hasn’t been easy to overcome the challenges of starting a business, but the support of other business owners, friends, and family have pushed us and motivated us to keep going.
Our business has grown organically through word of mouth and client successes, and for that, we couldn’t be more grateful.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When you first land in Denver, make sure to check out some of the amazing breakfast spots in town, Jelly is a classic brunch spot.
Red Rocks Amphitheater is one of the most amazing venues in the country, catching a show here is a must for any Colorado trip. The new Meow Wolf experience is also something to add to your list.
We are mountain girls ourselves so we cannot recommend taking the trip up to Steamboat, Crested Butte, or Telluride for views, food, and outdoor activities!
Strawberry Hot Springs in Steamboat is incredible, make sure to grab tacos or a margarita at Los Locos afterward!
Colorado is the ultimate location for getting on the river, exploring hiking trails, and of course skiing/snowboarding so if you have the chance to explore the Rocky Mountain wilderness, don’t sleep on it!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We both credit each other for the journey and success of <Meta Gals>
