We had the good fortune of connecting with Samora Kash and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samora, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would say that the most important factor behind my success and my brand is LOVE. I have used the phrase “lead with love” for as long as I can remember and I have stayed true to that. So much of life gets dark and hard to navigate but I truly believe that the love we give changes the world. The most important thing you have to do is be in touch with your heart, mind, body, and soul. Being in touch with those things is the only way you can truly lead with love. So many people focus on competing with someone else’s light that they forget to find their own. Everyone has both light and darkness within them and each of us have a choice to tap into one or the other. I have always believed in spreading love and light and I have used my body as the vessel to not only carry me forward but to carry everything I do forward. Success is not just about being successful. Success is about tapping into the realest version of yourself, finding your passion, and hopefully sprinkling whatever gifts you have on others in hopes that they might find their success too. I owe much of my success to not only myself but to all of those who have believed in me to get here. Everyone’s version of success is different but success becomes nothing if the person behind it doesn’t use their purpose on this Earth for good. I believe that light always drowns out the dark and that success starts from within.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am Biracial, Gay, and a Drag Queen. If those three things don’t scream challenging then I don’t know what does. It is a tough time to exist in a country that wants to strip basic human rights from so many of us. That is why my voice, my platform, and my continued existence is so important.

I would say I am most proud of my perseverance. I have been on the top and have faced the lows of the bottom but not once have I given up. I have definitely thought about it at times but it’s just not in my blood to throw in the towel. I want to prove to myself that hard work and dedication really does lead you forward.

I am most excited about the wonderful blessings and opportunities to come. I put my heart and soul into everything that I do and I know that because of that I will be rewarded for my never ending efforts. I have so many dreams, goals, and aspirations and I just know that in some way I am going to accomplish them all. The excitement comes from knowing that there have been so many amazing things I have accomplished so far and that I haven’t even scratched the surface of all that is to come!

I got to where I am today by always being willing to fall but never allowing giving up to be an option. Along my journey I have found out what works and what doesn’t work. I have made plenty of mistakes and will continue to do so because I am human. Chasing your dreams, going after what you want, and always pushing yourself forward is never easy. If it was easy, everyone would do it. You just have to be willing to fall a few steps back and then get up again. Overcoming challenges is one of the toughest things we all face but when you truly look back at those challenges you understand why you had to go through it all. Lessons are born out of loss. When you lose something it should always teach you something. Losing means that your wins are so much more of a reward. I have learned to be stronger, wiser, and overall better because of the times I didn’t get what I want. Everything is our lives is a next step so when things don’t work out at first you have to see it as another opportunity to excel forward. Without lessons there is no growth and without growth there is no next step and with no next step there is not future successes to be had. When you can look at life and say “this happened for me” instead of “this happened to me” everything around you changes.

If there is anything I want the world to know about me or my brand it’s that each of us have a light and power inside us. What you do with that light and that power is up to you. Working hard, fighting the battles, facing the adversities, and never giving up is all it takes to make a successful journey continue forever. The “Kash” brand has always been about love, light, and energy. I hope that the energy I give allows others to know that they have an energy inside them too. I hope that my brand allows people to believe in themselves a little harder, I hope it gives them an inner strength to push past their fears, and I hope it allows them to know that dreams come true to those awake enough to dream them. I hope that all that I am always leads people back to love. Love is all we need.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have so many favorite places in Denver especially because I love food and I am always down for a lovely cocktail, coffee or dessert.

I love starting off my day with Coffee so for me starting in my lovely Baker neighborhood is a must. We have so many amazing local coffee shops like Bardo, Metropolis, Queen City, and Huckleberry. We also have the best Starbucks crew on this planet at Broadway and Virginia.

After coffee is Brunch of course. I am a lover of Jelly Cafe, The Lobby, Bon Ami, and Bacon Social House.

Post Brunch often leads to a walk through Washington Park, Pearl St, or down the Santa Fe art district.

For a nice midday cocktail, I am huge fan of Lady Jane, Occidental, Mister Oso, Room for Milly, or Postino.

For evening plans, I love dinner at Cuba Cuba, El Five, Kaos Pizzeria, Tres Chiles, and Dio Mio.

Post dinner, I love D Bar or Woodie Fisher for their amazing espresso martinis. If you need ice cream, I am definitely heading over to Sweet Action, Little Man, or Bonnie Brae. YUM!

As far as activities go, I love to be outdoors or workout. If you are looking for an amazing workout space then I would definitely check out my girl and owner, “V,” and all the wonderful ladies at BODIED in Sunnyside. It is truly a workout unlike anything I have ever done. Hiking is also another enjoyment of mine even if I don’t get the chance to go as much as I would like. One of my favorite spots for hiking is Hanging Lake.

Outside of that, Red Rocks for a show is a must. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience if you are visiting.

For me, life is about staying active, healthy, and training both physically and mentally. I hope whoever is visiting me is ready for a fun and exciting time in Denver,

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to Dixie Krystals. Dixie Krystals is a legend and staple Drag Entertainer in our community here in Denver, CO.

3 years ago when I was making my way into the Denver drag scene, Dixie and I had a phone conversation. I wanted to know how to break into the scene, what were some dos and don’ts, and how to be successful. I trusted Dixie to answer these questions with power because my Drag Mother, Koko Nutwata (NYC), raved about her success, character, and work ethic. After that phone call I remember thinking how much I believed that she really was that person that had been described to me. From that point on Dixie really took me under her wing and helped me get my start. She reminded me to work hard, stay out of the drama, and lean into my talent. Her reminders have really been such a powerful tool in helping me become successful. I don’t know that will ever truly know the impact she has had on my life and my career but I hope she knows how forever grateful I am that she took a chance on me. Dixie is not only extremely talented, loving, and hard working but she is also a beautiful human on the inside and outside. She has taught me the power that can be love and the power that can be light but it all starts with the love and light you build within yourself. I just want to say thank you to Dixie even though those words will never be enough. She gave me a seat at her table a long time ago and I hope she knows that she will always have a seat at mine.
