We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Elizabeth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, what makes you happy? Why?
Hiking makes me happy. I first moved out west 11 years ago from the sunny beaches of South Florida. I remember the first time I went on a hike, I was scared of the bugs, the noises (“is that a mountain lion?!”), and I was huffing and puffing all the way. Fast forward, and it’s my zen and my happy place. Hiking, and being in nature, brings me peace and tranquility – it allows me to quiet my mind, and so much more! Lake hikes, waterfall hikes, forest hikes, desert hikes, hikes with an overview…there’s a hike for everyone! Always looking for new hiking buddies.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve had an incredible career in public relations and communications, working with companies like Cirque du Soleil, the Goodyear Blimp, The North Face and more. I’ve hosted red carpet events for film festivals, Las Vegas nightclub openings, managed aerial coverage for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, and even flew the blimp myself. I’ve worked in industries including travel/tourism, outdoors, food & beverage, fine art, automotive. My career has spanned nearly two decades.
I’ve also been working on inspiring others to adventure, explore and enjoy the outdoors – and even adventures in their city – through my instagram account @saradreamsincolor. There is so much beauty in the world…and I’m on a mission to find it. 🙂
I’m currently taking on some PR consulting on the side, as well as content creation through @saradreamsincolor – there are so many great businesses in Colorado I’d love to work with.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I am new to Denver, having just moved here in June, but I’ve explored A LOT in that time. Here are some of my favorites so far:
Concert at Red Rocks – they also offer yoga in the summer, which is awesome
Day trip to Breckenridge – walk Main Street, grab a bite on a patio, hike to Isak the troll
Lake Isabelle Hike in Indian Peaks Wilderness
Take a day exploring each of the neighborhoods: Cherry Creek, Golden and LoHi are some of my favorites.
Grab a latte at Wash Perk and go for a walk around Wash Park with your pup!
Leaf-peeping in the mountains in the fall – Golden Gate Canyon State Park is close to the city
Grab a cocktail on one of the many rooftop patios
All of the summer farmer’s markets (great date idea!)
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends. They’ve supported me so much throughout my journey. I’m lucky to have some extraordinary people in my life.
