We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Frey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Frank, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind our success at Epicentral Coworking is our obsession with creating community. We want to give our members more than just a place to work – we want them to meet people, engage in the community, and discover new things. We host a weekly happy hour in the main space, which is a great way for people to meet and talk about more than just work. We have found that creating community is contagious, and now Epicentral members are organizing dinner clubs, lunch and learn events, and ping pong tournaments for their fellow members. We make an effort to connect people we believe would work well together, have common interests, or share the same sense of humor. There are so many people who come to Epicentral who have been working out of their homes for the last few years, and they want to meet other people and feel like they’re a part of something bigger. We strive to provide an avenue for people to get plugged in, and we want the community aspect of coworking to be the biggest reason people love coming to work here.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Epicentral Coworking is a shared workspace for professionals, freelancers, telecommuters, small business owners, entrepreneurs, side-hustlers, and coffee shop nomads in downtown Colorado Springs. We provide workspace, meeting rooms, dedicated desks, private offices, and a community of fellow do’ers, thinkers, and change makers. Our mission is to create community through coworking; to provide connection through space and community to support our members and help their businesses succeed. Our vision is to be a local epicenter of entrepreneurship, business, and creativity, which drives vibrancy downtown, elicits pride in Colorado Springs, and invigorates our city’s approach to economic development.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ivywild School is a great place to hang out, have a drink, and grab a bite. The Principal’s Office serves up some of the best cocktails in town, while Bristol Brewery offers great beers. Axe and the Oak often has live music, and the four different food options at the school ensure everyone you’re with will find something they enjoy.

Shugas is an awesome place to grab lunch; their soup and salads always deliver and the atmosphere is perfect.

Brooklyn’s on Boulder features cocktails made from the Lee Spirits distillery. The speakeasy is an excellent place to have a craft cocktail and to learn about local spirits.

The Wild Goose Meeting House is a favorite coffee shop of ours. We love its proximity to Epicentral and its welcoming ambiance.

Loyal Coffee is an amazing coffee shop as well as a roaster. Their dedication to quality coffee can be seen in the great product they provide. The cafe itself is a really great place to hang out and enjoy an afternoon with friends.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Epicentral Coworking wouldn’t be what or where it is today without the 300+ members we’ve had over the past 10 years. Shoutout to all our past, current, and future members – our community is what sets us apart and makes people fall in love with our space. Another big shoutout goes to Hannah Parsons, one of the OG co-founders of Epicentral. She helped create the vision, solidify stakeholder buy in, and get it off the ground. She has been a coworking and startup advocate for over a decade, and she continues to be a Colorado tech, innovation, and economic change-maker.
