We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Howard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sara, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risks are necessary. Success does not come with out risk. The greater the risk, the greater the chance of great success. I feel when taking a big or small risk while in pursuit of your success, you must be prepared to accept the failure as well as the success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My passion in photography is a bit eclectic. I live to travel and hike to capture wildlife and amazing landscapes through my lens. When I am not traveling, you’ll find me with the dogs, horses and wild children! I offer unique dog and horse photography, with the focus of capturing these wonderful creatures one of kind personalities. I also offer “wild child” sessions…these are carefree sessions out in nature where children run free and play while I capture the purely wild moments. You won’t find planned staged forced poses over here. Given all that, I am always up for ideas that clients bring my way. Whatever you are craving, do it now! After practicing full time as a pediatric nurse practitioner for the last 16 years, I just recently took the leap to pursue photography full time and my only regret is not doing it sooner. Of course, the daily grind of being a business owner is whole new animal compared to that cushy 9-5 and steady paycheck but it is so worth it. The hardest part, is taking the leap.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man. The city??? We are headed to Grand Lake, CO. My heart is in Grand Lake. First stop, The Hub for a triple shot almond milk iced latte with extra ice, please! Next, we are headed to the Mountain Market for all the picnic essentials and to stock up on fresh food to cook at the best little cabin (@grandlakeairbnb) nestled in the heart of the woods bordering RMNP. If you need us, we will be in the park chasing the wildlife and beautiful scenery. Pizza is most definitely on the menu as well…Grand Pizza and White Buffalo are both amazing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, Joe. His unwaivering dedication and sheer determination in every aspect of his life has lit a fire in me. Joe has shaped my story more than he probably knows. My story is possible because of him. He has taught me the true meaning of grit and success
