Meet Sara Manderscheid | Head Coach and Founder | Elevate Your Running

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Manderscheid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create a sense of community and connection with movement as the foundational piece. My initial business idea was to organize local running retreats. Once the pandemic hit, I quickly pivoted and took the certified exam to become a running coach. With over 15 years of personal experience, a passion for running, and a desire to bring people together – Elevate Your Running was born!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my business at the beginning of the pandemic when races and events were canceled. This is about as tough as it gets. I slowly added athletes who were looking for purpose, training, and wanting to be ready when races made a comeback until last fall when things got busy – in the best way possible.
My intent is to make people feel seen and heard, I’ve come to realize that a lot of people are looking for connection and for someone to believe in them – this is a big piece to the Elevate Your Running coaching philosophy. I have an amazing group of athletes who all come together to support each other around the country in training, races, and recovery periods. Each athlete receives individual support, personalized training and attention they deserve to reach their potential through training and race morning. I call this, “lifting them high”. Lifting them high builds confidence. That confidence begins to seep into everyday life, on and off the road. It starts to impact their significant others, families, and community. Also, the ability to see the physical and mental changes with the in-person Elevate Denver team is one of the best gifts coaching has given me. I love running + seeing athletes change and evolve into stronger versions of themselves – this comes through in my energy and passion when I’m with my team, a win/win!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Red Rocks. Hands down! Red Rocks for a live show, hiking, or working out – this is the place to be! If we decide to go for a run, Wash Park is my favorite place to run – the outside dirt path provides good support for the body and the paved inner loop is great for winter running or to gain some speed! Next up, we definitely need to visit Postinos in Lohi or South Broadway for an outdoor happy hour with bruschetta and wine!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m a big believer that every person, situation, and experience guides us to the path we’re meant to be on! My parents have instilled a tremendous amount of work ethic, doing the right thing, and being kind to others. If I didn’t possess these qualities, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I also went through an extensive emotional intelligence and leadership course 18 months ago that changed my life, for the better, forever! I was able to break through the stories/situations/past experiences holding me back from living the life that I want to live! Passionate, happy, and making a difference, on my terms!
