We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Robbins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur, however, I initially started The Road West Traveled with my business partners because we wanted to produce an independent ski film and needed a business entity to make that happen. At the time, I wasn’t sure if this could be a sustainable business. Overtime, however, opportunities presented themselves for us to produce more films and develop a viable business plan as a result. Today, we specialize in Adventure Videography and Photography and have worked with so many amazing brands with projects that have allowed us to makes films all over the world! I am so glad I followed my passions, which ultimately led our business to where it is today.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the co-founder of The Road West Traveled. I originally founded the company when myself, and my business partners Grant Robbins and Lio DelPiccolo, had an idea for a backcountry ski documentary. Shortly thereafter, we released our first and most notable film, “Abandoned”.
Now, we specialize in full service video production and adventure photography services. We pride ourselves on emotive storytelling and our ability to uncover the heart of adventure. Our team is not only full of skilled videographers but adventure athletes ready to follow the story anywhere. We are prepared to brave the elements, especially the human element. We are deeply inspired by the way the sun dances on ridge tops, by the snow as it swirls in the wind, by the water as it rushes downstream, and by roads and trails only few dare to travel. We make art from these mountain mediums with adventurers at the heart.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Husband, Grant. Grant is one of my partners in business, with The Road West Traveled, but he is also my biggest cheerleader, supporter, and fan. He pushes and encourages me to be the best version of myself. Without his encouragement, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Also, our other business partner, Lio. Lio is wildly talented, a wonderful business partner, but above all one of my best friends. I am extremely lucky to do business with these two.
