We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Violet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara Violet, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I stepped into an artistic career after years of pondering the possibilities. After years of looking for “they career” that I would genuinely feel drawn to. I have always used art as a form of self expression, often finding myself deeply connected to my art and in that felt deterred from sharing.
It wasn’t until I faced my fears of rejection that I fully pursued my art. It’s when I got comfortable in they uncomfortable and invited the growth that inevitably ensued.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I create I do it with intention, I am very conscious of they energy I am putting behind it. I genuinely feel a piece of me is reflected in each design. That is why everything I create for others is never replicated. My belief is that each collector should have a piece as individual as they are. Being an artist that is multifaceted this pools over into all that I create from mixed media art , paintings and sculptures to jewelry.
I am proud that I pushed myself to pursue my passions after practicing art for 15+ years. That has resulted in being in business for over a year and counting. During that time I have created an opportunity for others to share their passions! I found along the way that there are so many creatives looking for community, a place that feels comfortable for them to display their art to potential collectors. I set to work to coordinate a Makers Market that’s for artist supporting artist! I have had the pleasure of meeting so many different types of creatives holding space with them and their beautiful creations. Some being their first market, it has been such a beautiful thing to witness unfolding.
I believe I am where I am today both in part to putting the work in not only inwardly but outwardly within my community and business. More importantly the love and support from my family & friends, often reminding me of my why when I needed it the most.
Doesn’t that cliche saying go “nothing good comes easy”? Where yes I have had to put the work in it has fulfilled me in such a way that the work is worth every uncomfortable hard moment, they pass and what they bring is growth.
My biggest challenge has been myself learning to unlearn to work on my mind set. Letting go of limiting beliefs, getting comfortable with growing and taking up space unapologetically.
What I have taken from this experience overall is it’s best to start before you feel “ready” it’s always going to feel uncomfortable because it’s unknown. Until you allow yourself to stand in those uncomfortable spaces of growth you’ll never experience what they unfold. I find when I have they opportunity to cross paths when with another just starting out I encourage them to keep going, I had a ton of support and I want to be that for others as well!
What I want people to know about me & my brand is I strive to impact those around me and the earth positively. It is important to me to be conscious of the way I affect others both energetically and with the products I use to create with. I chose the name Violet Vizionary because I want to be that light that helps people envision all the possibilities from creative expression to encouraging them to step into their calling.
My story is still being written, what I’d like to say thus far is I am grateful for having taken a chance on myself and leaning in when I was uncertain. It has opened me up to understand myself deeper, in turn enabled me to hold space for others and all of our creations! I have found community, connection and inspiration in sharing my experience it has helped others. I am ultimately humbled and open to what the future brings.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend actually does live in another state, it is almost as if you’re helping to plan our next trip! When she visits we plan all they adventures along with a few traditional visits being mostly food. We always make room to visit Bon Tons Cafe in OCC, The Burrowing Owl off of 8th street in COS, Elephant Thai off of Academy and of course a few sweet treats being Amy’s donut’s as well as Josh and John’s. For entertainment we often find ourselves at The Painters Pot for all the painting fun.
Her next visit we plan to go to a few of Colorado’s treasured hot springs. We would wake up early car packed before swinging by Solar Roast Coffee for a yummy vegetarian breakfast burrito and coffee on the go. From Colorado Springs it’s roughly 5 hours one way to Pagosa. We usually plan a pit stop or a few mid way in any road trip adventures. Our first stop, The Great Sand Dunes National Park. Here we will set up camp over night at Piñon Flats Campground, before hiking and enjoy they vast change in landscape the magnificent views this area of Colorado has to offer. Waking enjoying the morning packing up and piping over to a very interesting town Crestone a gem with an energy all its own located a hour from the great sand dunes. We likely would grab lunch at a local cafe before heading to Pagosa! The magical thing about Pagosa is there are several springs and it’s beautiful! We would first hike into Rainbow Hot Springs staying a couple of days before camping. Enjoying the wilderness and the primitive spring experience. Ending our trip at the The Springs Resort. They have so many different pools to enjoy and if you stay there you have 24 hour access. Along with the many springs along the river.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my family for their support in encouraging me to continue creating. As well as they fellow creative friends I have made along the way that inspire me & I find community in.
