We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Beck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Being creative and being a creative problem solver has always been one of my biggest strengths. I always knew if I didn’t at least try to pursue a creative and artistic career I would regret it and wouldn’t be as happy. Thankfully it has worked out thus far career-wise.

What should our readers know about your business?
I take homes that may not necessarily appeal to potential home buyers or even to their owners and bring out their best features in a stunning way. I’m all about transformation. Every home has a personality and can be beautiful and reflect the best attributes of the homeowner or potential homeowner. What sets me apart is my ability to take homes that need a little creativity-or sometimes a lot, and help them to live up to their full potential and transform them beyond the expectations of the client. My goal for the home is to reflect the homeowner or potential homeowner, the style of the home, and the neighborhood in the best way possible.

Owning and running a business is never easy but I love a challenge and more importantly, love what I do. There are challenges to overcome nearly every day but the longer you have your business the more you can anticipate the potential challenges ahead.

I’ve learned so many lessons along the way! More than I can count. And I’m still learning every day!

I want the world to know that I’m all about creative solutions that come to fruition in a beautiful way. I think that’s a good way to describe my company Hayven Design as well. My story is always evolving but I think the bottom line is that I want to do great work for good people. Changing their lives and homes for the better through design.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I live in Fort Collins which is an hour or so north of Denver. Fort Collins is all about bikes, beer, the outdoors, and most of all- community. If it’s hot and sunny my favorite thing to do with friends is paddleboard on Horsetooth Reservoir. Sandwiches from Fox and Crow paired with a few beverages from Odells Brewing Company will make for a perfect picnic on one of the beaches of the reservoir after a long paddle. If the weather is less than ideal I love to take people to South College Avenue to explore all the vintage and antique shops. Zwei Brewing is a perfect post-shopping stop. Relax with a flight of their German-Style beers and get lunch from one of the daily food trucks there.
Old town Fort Collins is always fun to explore and with all the local shops there is bound to be something for everyone. After a long, fun day of shopping the Fort Collins Speakeasy Social is the perfect place to relax with a expertly crafted cocktail from one of Social’s mixologists. For lunch or dinner, the Welsh Rabbit is a great choice for a unique cheese-forward bistro-style meal.

Another great thing to do in Fort Collins is bike from brewery to brewery sampling all of the delicious beers Fort Collins is known for. The meal that pairs best with a tour of Fort Collins’s best breweries? Music City Hot Chicken. My favorite restaurant in town.
No trip to Fort Collins is complete without a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. It’s a little bit of a drive but absolutely worth it. In fact, there are so many hikes, waterfalls, and wildlife you might want to spend at least two days in the Park.
Once you and your friends have explored Rocky Mountain National Park for a few days, the Frisbee Golf Course at the Estes Park YMCA is as challenging as it is stunningly beautiful. Even if you don’t like to Frisbee Golf just walking around the area is something you are sure to love and remember.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents always encouraged me to express my creative side and supported my choice to pursue a creative degree in college. They have also always been there for me with encouragement and have always believed in me especially when I didn’t believe in myself. I also want to give a big shoutout to my husband who has always pushed me to do more than I thought possible and never give up.
