Meet Sarah Kupec | Mom, Chaos Coordinator, and Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Kupec and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, any advice for how to know whether to keep going or to give up?
This is a great question that I ask myself quite a bit. I have been lucky enough to not have to find out exactly when I need to give up. Every time I start to think about giving up, I think about what I would be doing instead. Where would I work, where would my son go to daycare, the ups and downs of working for someone else, and on and on. It makes me sad and makes me realize that even though I might be stressed out or having difficulties there is nowhere else in the whole world that I would rather be day in and day out. I truly have the best job out there for me, and I will keep fighting and adapting until I can’t anymore.
What should our readers know about your business?
I sell freeze dried snacks and meals. We are set apart from the big companies by being local and being able to diversify and cater to custom orders. I can make healthy snacks, or I can do fun candies. On the other hand, I can do MREs (meals ready to eat). Which are great for preppers, backpackers, campers etc. I have even had orders for them just as meal prepping for weekly meals. Where we are today as a company hasn’t been easy but, I don’t know many companies that have had a golden road paved for them. We have had growing pains, mechanical issues, and lots of long nights designing new labels or trying new products. Each challenge has been overcome with the help of talking it out with my husband or other family members.
The newest challenge I am facing is trying to create my own candy that works as well as the big-name brands. I am learning that freeze drying is getting bigger and our competition is heating up. We are trying to stay ahead of the pack and be innovative.
The best part about what we do is that it is so diverse and there are many applications for it. I am always down for trying something new and filling a need.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend and her daughter are coming out this summer and there are already plans being laid out for it. So far, we are planning on stopping in at MECO Coffee Collective in Longmont for some pastries and coffee. While are in Longmont we are going to paint some pottery at Crackpots. We want to end the night closer to home and have dinner at the Rio and stop in for a drink at 477 Distilling in Greeley. They also have asked to go to Estes Park and walk down town. We will defiantly make a stop in at Estes Park Brewery for lunch, and do the haunted tour at the Stanley Hotel. We are also talking about going to the Springs and going to the Cave of the Winds, and Garden of the Gods. After that we are going camping in Cotopaxi. There we are going to ride dirt bikes and side by sides. Lots of campfires and good times to be had.
On the way home we might hit the Royal Gorge and the Outlets at Castle Rock. Then, home to relax and take them to the airport the next day.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As always all of the credit goes to my husband and family. Without them this company wouldn’t be where it is today. I would not be where I am today. Most importantly I would not be able to keep pushing forward without their support.
