Meet Hien Kim | Denver Real Estate Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hien Kim and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hien, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success thus far is my honesty to my clients and how I represent myself as a Real Estate Agent. I am not the typical Agent you see on reality tv. I am just a mom who never had a constant home growing up. One of my goals before starting a family is to have a home of my own that we can set our roots in so my kid wouldn’t need to constantly move. I made a lot of mistakes when I looked for a Realtor and even though we were able to get our first home, it could have been a better experience. I focus on educating all my clients and am transparent throughout the process. My clients all know that I have their back and all decisions are made by them.
I focus heavily on the experience. My hospitality background of 15 years definitely lends its hand throughout my business. Building trust and fostering strong relationships is fundamental. There is just no way any of my previous clients would ever not work with me again or refer their friends and family to me.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart is I focus on the client experience before, during, and after the transaction. I develop strong friendships organically and try to provide value constantly that whenever any of them hear real estate, they think of me. I also focus heavily on house hacking and building generational wealth. I house hacked for years and it helped me build up what I have now.
I was a food and beverage manager at a casino and was climbing the corporate ladder. Woke up one day and decided it was time to have a baby. Ended up hating my job after I went back from maternity leave. Told my husband I wanted to be a stay at home mom so I was willing to move wherever as long as we can afford me staying home. That’s how we ended up in Denver! After a year of staying home, my husband told me I needed to get a part time job to help out. I landed a part time assistant position to a Realtor and Mortgage Broker. It was an impactful year and a half with her before I really started on my own business.
I was scared relying solely on my husband’s income again and now that we have more responsibility, I was petrified. I had no client database and barely any money to invest in myself. So I decided to put all my efforts into ongoing education and social media. I promised myself to say yes to everything I am invited to and to really focus on building trust and relationships.
I don’t want to be a top producing agent. I don’t want the flashy cars or the nice clothes. I just want to be able to help my friends buy, sell, and invest in real estate. I just want to treat people well at the end of the day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
OMG- I love this question. There is just so much to see and do here in Denver. I focus heavily on finding all the events going in and around Denver for my FB and IG pages!
I would have to do Yoga on the Rocks with my friend. It is such a great experience! Then a little hike around red rocks. For lunch we would either go get dim sum at Star Kitchen or Vietnamese food off Federal. We would then need to stop into Milk Tea People or Ti Cafe for a little drink.
Depending on the season, I would either choose a ski day or take them to a hot spring. Now I’ve only been to Loveland, Crested Butte, and Glenwood Hot Springs. There are so many to choose from.
We would also have to go to Angelos in Littleton for dinner one of the nights. It’s my fav spot for happy hour!
Also a trip to Garden of the Gods and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is needed.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A couple months ago I went to a community event at the Den Social. It’s a cafe but has a little play area with lots of seating all around for working moms and dads. I thought this was the greatest idea ever. This is exactly what I needed when my daughter was little. Living in a new town with no village to help me. I felt right at home! Little did I know, they have a huge community where they focus on bringing together all types of moms. I have met some great women there and would love to give my shoutout to Chandler (the owner). She is doing something so great for the community and should know her impact.
