We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Lorenzen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I was inspired by the need to provide my children with the best shoes possible. Our shoes are great for foot development and actually stay on. The job originally allowed me to be a part time seamstress and full time mom.
What should our readers know about your business?
My shop is called Sarah Beth Co. We are a small shop specializing in soft sole shoes, masks & more. Our products are proudly handmade in Peyton, Co. Each piece is carefully hand cut, sewn and packaged by a mom! Getting to where we are as a business has definitely been a challenge. We had to create new and innovative designs to stay ahead of the competition and we also created new manufacturing techniques to reduce cost and improve efficiency. All of the was accomplished while raising four children which can be a very positive distraction.
The lessons learned along the way were mainly time management, money management and that quality over profit is important to grow your brand.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend was to visit, spend a day in the Colorado Springs area checking out things like Manitou Springs, Parry’s Pizzeria and Purple Toad Social Tap in Falcon. We could also spend some time hiking in Mueller Park, or spend a day in Buena Vista.,
Another day could be spent sight seeing in Denver and stopping by our favorite mexican joint, Sabroso!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband & children really deserve the credit. My children were my inspiration and my motivation. They keep me going everyday. But my husband has always been my biggest supporter! On the days that I don’t want to continue, he always give me the encouragement I need. When the competition gets rough, he reminds me of the things that sets my brand apart from the rest. He’s full of bright ideas and is always thinking of new things for me to try. Eric, my husband, has always been there for me, in life and in business.
