We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Malkasian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Music has become a form of audible wallpaper. When you seek out new music via say a playlist you get a ‘vibe.’ What you don’t with that is generally personality and idiosyncrasy which is what my favorite musicians bring to the table. The risk for me comes in how much money and resources am I willing to spend to try and break through that noise. My art is not trendy currently. Everything I do is based on taking risk since I can’t separate my personality from the art. Its personal which is therefore risky.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I still have a plan to make more music today, tomorrow, next week and next year. Despite the struggle the fact that I still love it and find the craft compulsory is the best asset I have.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife Jenn.
