We had the good fortune of connecting with Bruno and Fae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bruno and Fae, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Dance has been our life for as long as we can remember! We’ve met each other social dancing. So, it’s only natural that we have started a business that fully revolves around social dancing.
We believe there’s nothing better than going out dancing for mental health, building social connections and healthy exercise that’s also fun! There are literally no drawbacks!
Knowing we can share all this pure goodness with people, make people happy and healthy and build our business and livelihood on that idea makes us feel so accomplished. Never doubted this path.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Building a business in an artistic environment is extremely hard mentally and emotionally. We’re surrounded by people with very strong opinions and visions – it’s such an explosive environment! On the bright side though it’s inspiring and uplifting also. There is a famous quote by Mihail Baryshnikov “We don’t do it because we can dance – we do it because we can’t not dance!” We feel this truly in our hearts. Dance, Brazilian Zouk especially is such a unique art that we create with our own bodies!
We find pure, untainted joy in dancing with people. Brazilian Zouk is fun and accessible to everyone – you don’t need years of training to go out and have fun, to express yourself on the dance floor, enjoy great music that makes your whole body bob and sway, find genuine human connection with others, experience kind human touch that’s not sexual.. We truly wish more people would discover the joy of social dancing!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
La Rumba bar – great place for salsa/bachata dancing!
Dancesport hosts dance socials as well
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We’d love to give a shoutout to all our students that learned with us and made this journey possible! Together we grow our dance community one class, one dance at a time.
