We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Oblizalo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor in my success comes from being passionate about what I’m providing and creating an irresistible brand with it. I knew that I wanted to create a brand that resonated with adventurous couples. Spending my time outside in nature is something that is very important to me, so I wanted to incorporate hiking and backpacking as much as possible into my business. I took a deep look at the elopement market and looked at areas where I could provide value while carving out a niche. My success comes from being able to differentiate myself from competitors in the market, while creating value for couples looking to elope!

What should our readers know about your business?
I think what helps me stand out from others is I’m not to compete with my competitors. If you do that, you’ll fall into the comparison trap. Instead of trying to compete, I’m trying to separate myself by providing different values and experiences that resonate with my ideal couple. I sell myself, my brand, my personality. People choose to do business with people they like. If they don’t vibe with you, they won’t want to do business with you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first thing that pops into my mind would be an epic backpacking trip in the San Juan mountains. We would come with a multi-day itinerary that highlights the epic landscape that will blow their mind. I love showing off the mountains of Colorado to my couples and friends as well. I’m a very organized person, so every day would cover sunrise and sunset times so we aren’t missing out on those “golden” photo opportunities. The trip would take place in the Needle mountains and likely be 5+ days where we live off protein bars, jerkey and Next Mile Meals backpacking foods.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say my wife has been my biggest supporter. She was there pushing me to never give up and was always supportive of me even when our relationship was put on the back burner as I was getting my business off the ground.
