We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanna Cronin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shanna, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the number one factor behind my success is my drive. I am completely self funded, I went solo and opened my studio straight out of school. Starting your own business isn’t for the faint of heart, I worked two jobs to stay afloat while I navigated what it looked like to build a successful brand, all the ins and out of running a business and taking an immense amount of advanced certifications and continued education to make sure I was giving the absolute best of myself and my services to my clients. For awhile, I don’t even think I took a day off — it was a lot of early mornings, late nights and so many sacrifices like missing friends birthdays and holidays. Honestly, there were a lot of days I really felt like it was just too much, I was pouring every part of me into this dream and sometimes I really had to battle “imposter syndrome” and remind myself that everything I was doing was keeping me on the path to achieve my goals; I just had to push past the discomfort; it was a necessary part of the process.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My form of art is enhancing the natural beauty of women at any age. I specialize in permanent makeup and provide natural beauty enhancements in a variety of services that transform the way women view themselves and give them the extra boost of confidence I feel like everyone deserves. I always had a passion for any and all things beauty and I knew it was something I wanted to dedicate my life to. I had been a flight attendant for 7 years when I decided to go back to school and pursue my dream, it was terrifying but the best decision I have ever made. It didn’t come without its own set of challenges; working full time in aviation while attending school was already something I knew I would have to face and was ready to tackle that hurdle; but when my dad passed expectedly the second week of school I found myself grappling with something far heavier and more difficult to navigate than I could have ever imagined. I would be lying if I said I didn’t think of dropping out or pushing my class to another date; but I asked myself what my dad would tell me and I know he would have wanted me to push forward, and so that’s what I did. I ended up graduating top of my class with honors, and receiving a perfect score on every assignment and evaluation through out my esthetics program. I was so proud of myself for overcoming everything in me that wanted to give up, and I know my dad was proud of me too.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the outdoors so first and foremost I would have to take them on hike somewhere in Boulder like Eldorado Canyon or maybe even Golden State Canyon park. Afterwards we would HAVE to recharge with some margs and yummy Mexican food at a restaurant with a great patio so we could enjoy the view. Red Rocks is a must for anyone visiting Colorado because it is so unique and beautiful. A night out would be spent at Union Station to show case some of the city and night life that Denver has to offer. A brunch date at Postinos would be a great way to dress up and vibe with good wine and light bites and just talk and catch up. We would also have to do a coffee tour of all the great coffee shops Denver has to offer like Monk & Mongoose or the Mango Tree. The trip would have to end up a drive through Rocky Mountain National Park to really show off the beauty of this state.
