We had the good fortune of connecting with Shealeen Bishop and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shealeen, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
That small and consistent efforts over the long haul is more powerful than sporadic big efforts. It’s also taught me that you need to love what you do, and connect with why you do it. If I didn’t love what I did, I don’t know if I would be able to handle the ups and downs of entrepreneurship.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m really excited about launching my art membership, Bloom Watercolor Club. It was a labor of love, and I’m incredibly proud of how it turned out. It also pushed me beyond what I thought I could handle from a tech perspective. In the past, I’ve let the fear of learning new software and processes hold me back from taking the steps I wanted to take. This experience taught me how to tackle a daunting project by breaking it down into manageable tasks, and now I’m grateful for the confidence that comes from facing something truly challenging.

Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy, but it’s felt like a natural path. I’ve always loved creativity and entrepreneurship. One of my earliest memories of “selling my art” was when I was 6 years old—my mom’s friend Michelle bought a flower I drew on construction paper for 2 dollars. That memory still makes me smile.

However, building a business from your creativity can be tough at times. For every public success, there have been many failures. I’ve launched collections that didn’t gain any interest, set up at art fairs where I barely made enough to cover the booth costs, and felt the sting of comparison when I wasn’t careful about guarding my mindset.

Above all, my mission is to make the world a little better by bringing beauty into it and encouraging others to do the same—whether that’s by showcasing my art in their homes or helping others discover the joy of creating art of their own.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Husband Dan. He’s been with me from the very early stages of my business, and has been a constant source of encouragement and steadiness.
