Meet Shelby Cannon | Realtor || Mentor || Team Lead

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelby Cannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shelby, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
A few habits that have helped me succeed include having a structured workday, setting clear boundaries, and always making time to work on my business, not just in it. Creating a daily routine allows me to stay focused and productive, while setting boundaries ensures I maintain a healthy work-life balance. I also make it a priority to step back and evaluate the big picture—whether it’s refining my marketing strategies, improving client relationships, or finding ways to scale my operations. Working on my business, not just day-to-day tasks, has been key to growth and long-term success.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m Shelby Cannon, born and raised in Palisade, CO, and now proudly serving the Grand Junction area. My journey into real estate began in a deeply personal way. I lost my mother to cancer and found myself faced with the emotional challenge of selling my childhood home. That experience opened my eyes to the overwhelming process that many go through when making major life changes, and it inspired me to pursue a career in real estate. I wanted to be there for others during those pivotal moments, providing guidance with care and compassion.
However, getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. The road was filled with challenges, and it took years of hard work and perseverance to establish myself in an industry where everyone knows a Realtor. To truly set myself apart, I focused on continuous learning and building meaningful relationships with my clients. I also specialized in targeted digital marketing, which allows me to use innovative strategies to ensure that my clients’ properties stand out in a competitive market.
Over the years, I’ve learned that real estate is about more than just transactions—it’s about people, relationships, and providing stability during times of transition. My pride comes from knowing that I’ve been able to help so many individuals and families navigate these milestones with the support and expertise they deserve.
The journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. Each challenge has shaped me into the agent I am today, and it’s my mission to continue offering the best guidance and support to those going through the process of buying or selling a home, whether it’s a first-time buyer, someone downsizing, or a family going through a life change.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting the Grand Junction area for a week, I’d want them to experience the very best of this area. On day one, we’d kick things off with a laid-back lunch at The Goat & Clover in Grand Junction, then take a stroll down Main Street, checking out local boutiques and coffee shops. We’d make our own candle at the Candle Kitchen. For dinner, we’d enjoy delicious small plates and craft cocktails at Bin 707 Foodbar. The next day, we’d hike at the Colorado National Monument, then spend the afternoon exploring Palisade’s wineries, like Palisade Vineyard & Winery and Talon Winery, with a stop at Peach Street Distillers for dinner and local spirits. On day three, we’d spend the morning at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens and the Museum of the West before heading to Strayhorns in Fruita for a relaxed, hearty dinner. On day four, we’d take a scenic drive up Grand Mesa, enjoying the views and maybe a little picnic along the way. We’d end the day with dinner at The Rockslide Brewery in Grand Junction. Day five would be all about the outdoors with a bike ride along the Colorado Riverfront Trail in Fruita, followed by a stop at Reckless Roadhouse for drinks and dinner. On Sunday, we’d visit the Palisade Farmers Market for fresh, local produce and artisan goods, followed by a relaxing afternoon at the Riverfront Trail. We’d wrap up the week with a fun kayaking trip on the Colorado River and lunch at Devils Kitchen before heading home. From outdoor adventures and stunning views to delicious food and local culture, this week will showcase all the Grand Valley has to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a big shoutout to my family for their unwavering support, encouragement, and patience. They’ve always been there, cheering me on through the ups and downs. I also want to recognize Krista Mashore Coaching—this program has been a game-changer for me. The strategies, mindset shifts, and accountability have helped me build my business in ways I never thought possible. I’m so grateful for the community and mentorship that have propelled me forward.
