We had the good fortune of connecting with Given Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Given, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
When we started Lost Range in 2018 we knew we wanted to create a line of CBD products that stood out in a heavily saturated market. We sought out to develop a line of products that were hand crafted in small batches, comprised of all natural ingredients and most importantly high potency Colorado derived CBD. Our mission early on was to help people with a clean, high potency CBD line.

Little did we know that we were creating a solution and a community. The solution is a product line that offers relief to a variety of people and a myriad of issues, and our community is comprised of people across the country who wholeheartedly believe in our products and incorporate them into their wellness routine on a daily basis.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets us apart from most CBD and/or wellness brands is our commitment to transparency, relationships, community and pure ingredients. We are constantly perfecting our craft whether it be refining our recipes or fine tuning our education and outreach to people in need. We are always learning from our customers, clients, friends and family to become a better business.

No small business is easy, it is a constant ebb and flow of successes and failures. Having the grit to dig in and learn from your mistakes, listen to your peers and grow can be the biggest rewards of being a small business owner. I always tell new entrepreneurs to never give up. There have been countless nights where I was curled up crying in bed thinking I was a complete failure to waking up saying it’s a new day, I got this. I am so glad we continued each day, even when it was hard, because that is where we found epic turning points within ourselves and the business. I would encourage each and every entrepreneur to move forward with their dreams, anything is possible.

We are Lost Range, we hope that we can inspire people to grow, heal, and find balance within themselves through education, high potency CBD and top of the line ingredients.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many great places to visit and see in Steamboat Springs year round. We have a world class ski resort which is know for its famous, fluffy, Champaign Powder. There is a ton of backcountry access for skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking and hiking on Rabbit Ears Pass, Emerald Mountain, North Routt and in the Zirkel Wilderness, to name a few. I think we have some of the best mountain biking access in the country for all levels of riders. We also have great fly fishing and whitewater in Steamboat and the surrounding Valleys.

In the summertime we have the free concert series which brings great bands, plus we have some really good venues like Old Town Pub, Snowbowl, and Shmiggitys that book some amazing bands. There’s always events going on throughout the year, farmers markets, the PBR Rodeo, WinterWonder Grass, Wine Fest, balloon fest, the list goes on and on.

We have some great eateries and drinking holes as well. Storm Peak and Barley are great places for beer lovers. For great cocktails and food I visit Table79, Primrose, and Yampa Valley Kitchen regularly. Do not forget about sushi, yes Tahk Omakase has some unbelievable sushi flown in every week, great cocktails and chef’s table. Tell chef John Given & Michelle sent you.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could write a book giving recognition to everyone who has helped us along the way. Our co-founder Won Hill certainly was the driving force in making me jump and get this thing off and running on the right foot. There were so many questions I had about how to start a business, I wasn’t really sure where to start. But thanks to our co-founder Won and a close group of our self employed, entrepreneurial friends and their mentors we had a great group that played a huge part in helping us take the leap. This group continues to be an integral part of our growth and success and helps us with everything from how we operate on a daily basis to how we continue to grow and diversify. When you are surrounded by people who have built beautiful cultures within their businesses and have seen/solved every problem you are going through, it is an amazing asset.

We’ve also been very lucky with creating some amazing relationships with Spas and Massage/Physical Therapists throughout our community of Steamboat, Colorado and beyond. It has been amazing seeing true healers of the community use our products to help people find balance in their lives.

Big shout out to all our family, friends and my wife for helping us over many days (for free) and always believing in Lost Range.

RIP to our beloved dog Duke, who always greated everyone at the facility doors with love, he was a rock in Lost Range’s culture.
