We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelby Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shelby, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Beaux Supply Co. came to life after not being able to find a face oil that not only was effective, but also was clean, organic, smelled amazing, affordable and also looked beautiful on my counter. The skincare industry is saturated so many products from serums, moisturizers and oils. I wanted Beaux to be set apart by the effective simplicity of the clean ingredients from nature. I wanted the smell of the oil to bring the user back to it through a daily and nightly ritual. The many aromatherapy effects the Beaux line has can be so powerful to moods and emotions.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I became an esthetician 10 years ago with a true love of all things skin.  Im obsessed with smell and the experiences it brings up within me in the now, but also what it can strum up from my past and the sensory experiences I can bring into the future. The science behind smell and mood is so fascinating to me and I truly built my whole oil line around effective organic oil from nature that can also create, change and enhance different experiences just from the smell of them. Being an esthetician and around skin and skincare all the time has allowed for me to try many different products and modalities on my own skin. In turn I was able to start a line that I felt was lacking and that is a pure oil line. Just oil! Oil to use and work into your already dialed skincare routine. Or if you have nothing going on in your skincare routine,  you can easily use a body oil for hydration and for retexturing your skin to protect or try one of our face oils as your complete moisture for the day. Going from being in real estate for years, then one day waking up and saying I want to an esthetician was a huge shift obviously. I journaled for a day and truly kept coming back to skin and helping people with their concerns. I knew I could not continue doing a job that was not fulfilling a calling that I could not shake. I can not impress upon my kids, friends or anyone who continuously has a need for change in their life to sit and write for a day. It’s amazing what can happen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Did you say itinerary? You are speaking my Virgo language 🙂
Boulder to Denver
Being that it’s winter….

Day 1

– start day off with yoga with Lauren Lewis at Yoga Pod in Boulder
– head to January Coffee next door for a Horchata and a small bite.
You don’t want to go too big the first day so a good dog walk up the Valley Trail below Mtn. Sanitas after to take in the flatirons and get the pups some exercise.
– Finish the day with take out from Vino Pho (I am a veg so I recommended the RAU PHO – xtra tofu!)

Day 2

– Plan a morning hike up Green Mountain in Boulder – great views and a great hike for a visitor
– A late breakfast at the French cafe in Boulder to experience ethnic French cuisine and the amazing owner who will show you so much love through her French kitchen
-SHOPPING TIME ! Not far from the French Cafe is the beautiful boutique Christina’s Luxuries. An amazing store with the best lingerie, bras, robes and clothing.
– Head downtown to shop along Pearl Street – make sure we hit up HAVEN – my very favorite boutique in Boulder for clothes and lovely gifts for everyone. After that we would make sure to go to THE NEW LOCAL which is a non-profit working gallery with local women artists who sell their creations, while creating a community of connectivity and education.
– Grab a mid day glass of white wine at Pizzeria Locale on tap and share a pizza and finish off with a scoop of the dairy free lavender ice cream from Gelato Boy.

Day 3

– Head to our local mountain Eldora to skip the I-70 nonsense. Stop by the the Train Cars Coffee and Kava for a chai and mini donuts to eat while we head up to the mountain. After the day we head back down to Nederland to get grab some pizza from Cross Cut. Back down the canyon in 25 minutes. Done and done!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Beaux dedicates a lot of its success and perseverance to my friends and family that have never doubted that Beaux’s oils could make a lot of people’s skin very happy and to keep making it! There were many times that it did not seem possible to really make a skincare line that people would not only buy, but want more and gift it to friends, parents, teachers and so on!
