We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelby Louder and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shelby, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
We say the word risk and most people associate it with a negative emotion but I started to think of the positive emotions of risk. The greatest risks have the most beautiful outcomes. I noticed this in my life as I made small and huge changes for myself. When I decided to change my career and start my own business I knew I was going to risk having to start over and do something new and scary. But I also knew that I was passionate and determined to make something not just beneficial for myself but for others in need. The name of my business “Live Louder” was exactly what made me want to take the risk. Living Louder – Embrace your authentic self, unconditionally.
Trust in your own potential.
If you have the chance to change someone’s reality, do it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being an artist/creative behind a lens has its ups and downs but it never fails to make me feel proud of what I do. I’m most proud of how I made the huge change in careers to start my own videography/photography company. I always knew I had an eye for capturing moments but I always felt I may not be good enough because of all of the other amazing creatives already doing it. But then I started telling myself “Live Louder” embracing myself fully and not being scared to take the risk to share my art with the world and mostly to help others share their art with my eye. It hasn’t been easy I self taught myself everything from how to use the camera, use editing software, and the whole back end of the business. (Loads of paperwork lol) but I spent everyday learning and motivating myself to make this business successful and remind myself that it is not just for me. It is for others as well. With my brand/business I want the world to know that you can do anything you put your mind to. That you aren’t alone and when you really want something and believe in yourself the right people will also do the same to help you get there. Being a videographer/photographer is about capturing the creative vision someone else sees and I want to keep bringing those visions to life for others in the loudest way possible.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Colorado is absolutely beautiful and full of excitement so a week is just not enough time lol but here are some spots I would go.
Some places we would HAVE to visit would be Redrocks most likely a day trip to see the beautiful land but then absolutely attend a concert at night. The most magical place on earth. Also would have to take some hikes maybe a few Boulder always has amazing trails as well as Colorado Springs. Me and my friends love sports so seeing the Nuggets or Avalanche would have to be on the list of must do. Everyone should also experience a night on the town on market street maybe visit a few local bar/clubs to dance the night away. I also truly enjoy the butterfly pavilion and would have to make a trip there for some relaxing zen time.
And the food oh man. That’s tough but also so easy. Some of my favorite spots to hit would for sure be fire on the mountain, a few hot spot places, some Korean bbq, the happy camper for some snacks. You can never go wrong with some Cheba hut or Cuba Cuba. The possibilities are truly endless.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If I could dedicate my story to anyone it would be my grandparents who have passed. Both of them experienced some of the hardest struggles in life together and as individuals, but at the end of the day they remained true to themselves and never gave up. They truly inspired me to take the chance and become the person I always knew I could be. I want to make them proud and carry the bright light they both carried through my passion and story.
