We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheri Erwin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sheri, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My decision to start my own practice came from years of listening to women—especially those in midlife—who felt dismissed, rushed, or told that what they were experiencing was simply “normal” and something they had to accept.
As a Doctor of Nursing Practice and board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, I saw a pattern. Women were doing all the “right” things, yet still struggling with fatigue, weight changes, sleep disruption, mood shifts, and a growing sense that their bodies were no longer working the way they used to. Too often, their concerns were minimized or reduced to quick fixes that didn’t address the full picture.
I wanted to create something different.
I built my practice around a more thoughtful, integrative approach—one that looks at the whole person, not just a single symptom or lab value. An approach that allows time to understand what’s actually happening in the body, how hormones, gut health, metabolism, stress, and lifestyle intersect, and how to support real, sustainable change.
Offering care through telehealth was a very intentional choice. It allows me to meet women where they are, remove barriers like travel and time constraints, and provide consistent, high-quality support that fits into real life.
At the heart of my work is a simple goal: to help women feel informed, supported, and confident in their health decisions. Not rushed. Not dismissed. But truly seen and guided through midlife with clarity and care.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets my work apart isn’t just clinical training — it’s how I combine medicine, education, and human understanding in a way that truly meets women where they are.
I don’t believe in rushed appointments, surface-level answers, or telling women that what they’re experiencing is “just part of aging.” I believe in slowing down, listening deeply, and helping women understand why their bodies are changing — and what they can actually do about it.
My approach blends evidence-based medicine with education and long-term support. Instead of handing out generic plans or quick fixes, I help women understand the patterns behind their symptoms at the systems level— from hormonal shifts and metabolic changes to stress, sleep, and inflammation — so they can make informed decisions with confidence.
What truly sets my work apart is that I don’t just treat lab values or isolated symptoms. I guide women through a structured, personalized process that helps them reconnect with their bodies, regain trust in themselves, and feel empowered rather than overwhelmed. She is navigating the ship, and I am providing the map of how to get there. In life, we sometimes need someone to help us build a roadmap and guide us in following it.
This work isn’t about perfection or quick results. It’s about sustainable change, clarity, and feeling supported through one of the most complex transitions of a woman’s life. My goal is for every woman I work with to walk away not only feeling better but also understanding why she feels better and how to maintain it long term.
That’s the difference between care that reacts… and care that truly transforms.
What I’m most proud of is building a space where women feel heard, respected, and supported, often for the first time in their healthcare journey. My goal has always been to help women move from confusion to clarity, from frustration to confidence, and from feeling dismissed to feeling deeply supported.
At its core, my work is about partnership. I don’t believe in quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions. I believe in thoughtful care, honest conversations, and helping women reconnect with their health in a way that feels sustainable, empowering, and aligned with their lives.
That philosophy is what continues to guide everything I do, and it’s the foundation of the work I’m most proud to share.
My journey to building this practice wasn’t a straight line, and it certainly wasn’t easy. It grew out of years spent listening closely to women who felt unheard, overlooked, or dismissed in their health care. All too often, I have heard: “I was told my labs are normal, but I don’t feel like myself. And no one wanted to help me.”
That realization changed everything for me. I knew I wanted to create something different, a space where women felt seen, supported, and educated, not rushed or minimized. Building that kind of practice meant stepping outside the conventional healthcare model, which came with uncertainty, long hours, and a lot of learning along the way. There were moments of doubt, but also moments of clarity that confirmed I was moving in the right direction.
What helped me push through was staying grounded in my purpose: providing thoughtful, evidence-informed care that honors the complexity of women’s health. I learned that meaningful change doesn’t come from quick fixes or surface-level solutions, but from taking the time to understand the whole person, their biology, their lifestyle, and their lived experience through a systems, whole-person approach versus just symptom management.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that real impact comes from listening. When women feel heard and understood, everything shifts. My work today is built around that belief, offering education, guidance, and support that empower women to understand their bodies and make confident decisions about their health.
What I hope people take away from my story is that healthcare can be different. It can be collaborative, compassionate, and deeply personal. And when we create space for that kind of care, real transformation becomes possible.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were coming to visit, I’d want them to experience Colorado the way I do: a mix of movement, great food, good conversation, and moments that make you pause and breathe it all in.
We’d start in Fort Collins, grabbing a relaxed drink at Purpose Brewing and Cellars. It’s one of my favorite places to unwind, catch up, and enjoy a thoughtfully crafted drink in a welcoming space. From there, we’d head to Old Town Fort Collins to explore the many local shops and stop for tea at Happy Lucky’s Teahouse, which always feels like a local favorite, with a laid-back energy and great tea.
One day would absolutely include a drive to Loveland for a hike at Devil’s Backbone Open Space. It’s one of those trails that reminds you why getting outside matters: wide open views, fresh air, and just enough challenge to feel accomplished without being overwhelming. Afterward, we’d refuel at Mash Lab Brewing & Kitchen in Windsor; their smoked wings alone are worth the trip.
Another day would be reserved for the mountains. We’d head up toward Estes Park, we’d explore Rocky Mountain National Park, take in the views, and end the day with happy hour at Bird & Jim, which has great food and a relaxed, welcoming vibe or a stop at The Barrel, one of my favorite spots for an incredible beer selection and genuinely kind people who make you feel like a regular.
No Colorado visit would be complete without a bit of adventure, so I’d make sure we carve out time for mountain biking at Lory State Park. And of course, we’d wrap up the week with something unforgettable: a drive-up or cog train ride up Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, soaking in the views, followed by a night at Red Rocks for a concert under the stars.
For me, that’s the perfect blend of movement, connection, good food, and moments that make you feel fully alive. It’s not about checking boxes; it’s about experiencing the place, the people, and the energy that make Colorado feel like home.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If I’m being honest, this journey hasn’t been a solo one, and I wouldn’t be where I am without the people who believed in me long before I fully believed in myself.
First, I must acknowledge my mother. She instilled in me a deep belief in lifelong learning and personal growth. From an early age, she encouraged curiosity, education, and the confidence to keep expanding what I thought was possible. That foundation shaped not only my career, but the way I approach growth and purpose in every season of life.
I also owe immense gratitude to my husband. Starting and growing a practice is not for the faint of heart, and his steady support, patience, and belief in my vision have enabled me to take risks and keep moving forward even in uncertain moments.
And finally, I’m grateful for the many women I’ve cared for over the years. Their honesty, vulnerability, and trust have shaped the way I practice and continue to remind me why this work matters. Their stories are what pushed me to build something more intentional, more supportive, and more human.
This journey has been a collective one, shaped by mentorship, encouragement, and the quiet strength of those who believed in me when I was still finding my footing.
