We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheri George and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sheri, how does your business help the community?
Hi! I’m Sheri, owner of Satisfying Morsels, LLC in Colorado Springs. I started my business in April of 2021, with the hopes of bringing simple, clean, nutrient-dense snacks to the local community. Morsels are bites of “oat-y goodness” that I make from my home based, Colorado Cottage kitchen.
My vision started a few years ago, when I began meal prepping for friends and my own family. It takes time to create and prepare nutritious meals and snacks. I got a lot of satisfaction out of doing this. I was able to give others the chance to ‘get along with their day’, saving them time and they would feel good about knowing what they were eating.
We are a society that is about convenience. It’s easy to grab anything that is around you, whether it be from a convenience store, a vending machine, a coffee shop, etc. That doesn’t mean that it’s a great nutritional choice, it’s just easy and gets the job done. I was living it myself… a mom with small children. Most of my energy was placed on taking care of them. Once I focused on myself and my purpose, other areas of my life followed more naturally. I enjoy helping others stay on track with their day & goals.
Satisfying Morsels are a great way to get some easy to “grab & go” snacks or breakfast choices for you and your family. My boys love them. They are 6 & 8 years old. (They are awesome taste testers, by the way!) I use pure extracts, clean flavorings, organic chia & flax seeds, nut butters, vegan chocolates, and ingredients that will sustain energy. There are no artificial flavors or colors. Additionally, I offer a variety of “protein boosts” for my customers that are looking for that option.
I think what helps a lot of people in the community too is the fact that none of my products require refrigeration. They can literally take a pack with them, wherever they go… even on backpacking trips, fishing, in the car, etc. Right now, my main and rotating menus are all oat-based, but I would love to broaden my offerings as my business grows organically.
Satisfying Morsels are exactly that.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in International Management, with a minor in Spanish from FSC in Florida. I also had the opportunity to play DII Women’s Golf during my college career. I found out quickly that sometimes life throws you curveballs and your journey changes, but in hindsight you realize that you are where you’re meant to be.
I got where I am today professionally by my passion and experience, not from some formal training. Between growing up with sports, to learning the hard way as a child/ teen/ young woman about self worth and self confidence, to discovering weight lifting and macro counting, to becoming a mom and just trying provide better choices for my family. I simply love what I do & it motivates me. This fire that I’ve learned from is why I started Satisfying Morsels.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Colorado Springs has some awesome outdoor opportunities in the area. I’d definitely take visitors to the Garden of the Gods along the front range. The beautiful rock formations, walking trails, and evolution of the area over hundreds of millions of years is breathtaking. After, I’d head over to Red Leg Brewing Company and enjoy some brews. It’s veteran-owned and they’ve got great beverage options, a fantastic outdoor area with live music, outdoor games, and local food trucks!
If you haven’t been there, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is so unique and fun for the entire family. A zoo on a mountain… how cool is that?! Cave of the Winds is a neat place to go as well. For hiking with smaller children, I highly suggest Mount Cutler trail in Cheyenne Canyon. It’s an easy ~2 mile out & back trail, where you can even spot Seven Bridges from your hike!
If my gym-rat friends came to visit, you’d better believe I’d take them to the Manitou Springs Incline. It’s a crazy challenge, but you feel so good when you get to the top! Then, I’d stop by Cerberus Brewing Company. Their food rotations are so tasty and I’d get a cerberita to go with it.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I’d like to thank my husband and my boys for encouraging me on this morsel journey. My husband, Alan, is the one that told me to go for it and helped me with a lot of the back end stuff that goes into a business. My boys are my biggest fans and they are great with deliveries & understanding when I’ve got a lot of orders. I’d also like to thank my family for believing in me. Also, my friends from various gyms who I’ve used as taste testers & made me believe that I have a unique product to share with others. I appreciate all of you!
