We had the good fortune of connecting with Sohary Ouk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sohary, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business because I had a daily annoyance with my bra. I use to work long hours and would look forward to taking my bra off when I got home. I have four boys and sometimes their friends or our friends would be over, making it uncomfortable going braless. I would swap out my bra for another bra-like item, and go on to entertain, feeling a little less constricted but not 100% comfortable. I realized that moment, as women we aim to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible when they come to our house, but not for ourselves. I thought there must be a better way. I started mixing and matching different materials, but I don’t know how to sew. It took me awhile to find a manufacture that could bring my idea to life. The barrier we created covered most nipples, but not all. I needed some graphic design to distract. My Grammy drew our logo, and I thought that would be a good way to introduce our brand along side with positive quotes to spread good vibes.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Right now I’m trying to add plus sizes and maybe extra small for the teen girls. We were also working on tank tops, but covid pushed us back, our manufacture had to close down temporarily. I’ve been playing around with tie dye on the shirts that we have in stock now. You can follow us on social media for those options.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Downtown Denver is looking more beautiful than ever. With all the outdoor eating, lights and street murals, you’ll be flooded with good vibes. Star Kitchen is great for Dim Sum. Seoul Korean BBQ in Aurora, then Thank Sool Pocha down the street for some drinks and Korean bar food. For sure Red Rocks for a concert, if we didn’t have covid. Explore our mountains and lakes.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My fiance` Daniel Chum. He believed in me and pushed me forward. I call him my mud, because a beautiful lotus flower can only grow from mud. He supported my vision, along with my friends and family. This is definitely a team effort, and I’m super blessed to have such a loving circle.
