We had the good fortune of connecting with Spencer Sorensen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Spencer, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea started when I needed a car detailed and began to think about the process and inconveniences that came with getting a service like that done. First, you have to get scheduled, then you need to coordinate someone to pick you up after you drop off your car. If you’re not lucky enough to have an additional vehicle now you’re stuck without a car. Then you need to coordinate another ride to pick up your vehicle once it’s done. I thought to myself there has to be a better way to provide this service while keeping people’s convenience a priority. So then came the idea of specializing in a mobile interior detailing company that is now Dirty Detailers.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Dirty Detailers is a first responder-owned and operated company. The professional development as Firefighters has carried over in our attention to detail, work ethic, and integrity. It can be seen in our quality services and care of our customers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Durango, CO is a nationwide tourist destination. It was also voted the #1 place to visit in Colorado in 2023. Whether you’re a hiker, skier, water sports enthusiast, or just enjoy local shopping and scenery Durango has it all. Some of my favorite places and must do’s in Durango would be to ride the Durango and Silverton narrow gauge railroad. Anytime spent on the Animas river that runs through town is always a blast. Durango has its own hot springs that are a fun and relaxing atmosphere. As far as food and local shopping a walk down main street has it all. Great food options, fun bars and a really cool speak easy called the Bookcase and Barber. In addition there are a bunch of cool outdoor and touristy shops.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My brother helped me pursue the idea and gave me the confidence that it would work. He also helped me a lot with marketing and getting the business off the ground.

My fiance has also been very supportive. As a full time firefighter and having the extra stresses of starting a business she’s been very encouraging.
